Poor Europa-chan, but I really have to do this. /Takes out of context "What are you doing with that little girl? STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!" "Well, she is actually an adult."

So, in short, outer star system colonies would likely depended mainly on antimatter production, get power from nuclear fusion energy, and trade volatile for heavy metals.

/Takes out of context "What are you doing with that little girl? STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!" "Well, she is actually an adult." Now the references about "entertainment" slave populations (as part of the Status Quo to defend because it is the unspoken and probably unthought Will of The People*) referenced in the campaign are even more horrifying... (*obviously, slaves aren't part of The People. It's the Republic of the Free People, after all)

Shit

Shit Sherman took an army through the south burning and pillaging as he went. it was called "The r*pe of Belgium" for a reason (ww1). need I mention the holocaust. Rome salted the ground at Carthage. The purge back in 36' (soviets). Japan pillaged mainland Asia in ww2 and had s*x slaves for the troops. total war has a long history and will never go away.

I still think you people might be missing out on the somewhat black humour of the universe, the creator of this game was after all the same who wrote up an intricate DnD economy where in people are killed and their bodies are transported only to be resuscitated later. He has a very funny dark sense of humour and while the science is quite literal and i enjoy the tone, the elements are obsidian in their satirical undertones.

I know war has got some nasty shit, but the end of the campaign nuclear bombardment of colonies felt particularly brutal and wasteful. Not to mention stupid, those were all potential sources of production and income

Now i cannot remember how i figured this out and i might be wrong here, but i am pretty sure Multiplexer is Qswitched, Namely www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/stellartrade.phpspecifically: Caravans of the Dead section Also has some great write ups on flying castle economies and a black pepper DnD campaign.

Is he in any way related to the author of this piece? IMHO the humour works precisely because it is both over-the-top evil described in a surrealist matter-of-fact way, and because it is actually recognisable while in a very removed context (which is why SF can pull it off where a historical, contemporary or even near-future setting may not). So you can either laugh about the horror ad absurdum wondering how far it will go, shut it out of your mind and concentrate on a purely abstract puzzle (or even mod it out of the campaign) or refuse to ever touch the campaign again. All three are probably valid responses. (A side effect would hopefully be that if some of us ever find ourselves in a similar situation, they will realize it sooner rather than later and avoid getting caught too far in it.) Also this is not just total war. This is the status quo you are heroically fighting to preserve. edit: damn space ninja and their hydrogen steamers I am pretty sure Multiplexer is Emily Dresner-Thornber while Qswitched is Zane Mankowski

But yeah the campaign is a mostly there to get the ships in the fighting.

I myself believe that even in CoaDE universe, robots and AIs must present. It would be a matter of time until the best scientists redevelop AI if none survived the cataclysm, and then the production will fall into these robots' hands. In real world, if nothing happened, I believe that the virtual population would outnumber people pretty fast. This is the part I'd suggest a rewrite, but I guess it'd just put down the reason to lie the middle-class people that they were not living on someone else's back, because they literally don't. Robots are not sapient, and thus they can work indefinitely. Note, I think RFP is like Alexander the Great's conquest: Brutal, but successful (Alexander's army killed every male in cities he passed through so there's no resistance, RFP army nuked every cities so there's no resistance).
