new railguns, I feel your pain David367th my sandblaster (and all other coilguns) are broken and I can't fix them The only thing's I can't fix are coilguns. Seems like they are no longer large caliber heavy payload sluggers. Even The 'heavy' stock coilgun went from 250some mm to 34mm. Railguns were pretty easy to fix, just add a decent sized hafnia cap and you get the same performance to reload rate drops.

I can't remember If I posted this ship before but I have modifed it slightly, the lasers are now extruded and can fire 2 on the broadside and forward and one everywhere else except due aft, I had to add 2 200Mw reactors from the standards thread in order to fire both lasers at the same time. the laser and motor for the ship The main weapon of the ship is 300 AShMs posted earlier and 20 high yield interceptor missiles

As much as it saddened me, I find the new changes to be significantly more balanced and physically correct. Especially now that my magnetic metal glass coilguns can't violate the laws of physics anymore. I has a coilgun capable of firing a 5M shell at speeds of 17 km/s. Now it can only fire at 120 m/s. Problem is that it also broke a few of my rail drones too, and I've now got to fix all the dependencies.

Never really wrote the idea however, sounds complicated and I just assumed everyone is more organized than me .

So, tried to retrofit the new laser module system to my gigawatt slicer. It looks so weird. Basically, with three laser turrets, it kinda has 3 heart bar too. If all three are out, it's screwed. And ship AI after the patch twist and turn way more often, which make the ships movement looks more organic and fancy. Also, finally made a workable coilgun. Which is still crap when compared to my current railgun design that has been improved and simplified.

Since I have not seen this posted before, I got a 23.5m mirror before it started being too big with the new extruded turrets, this also has a 140 degree arc of fire.

Any pronouncements that kinetic guns are obsolete is premature. Fyi, in low designs with extra capacitor increasing shell/sabot weight increases muzzle velocity. Also, mess with the capacitor plate spacing as this sets the charge voltage. You want the charge voltage to match what the rails and projectile velocity need. More is not always better, especially on small rail-guns.

Some sort of conductive, light, but strong Aluminum alloy. AlZnMg was all the rage a month ago.

AlCuLi probably, it's the light weight version.

Darn... And here I hoped I was the only one who had discovered AlZnMg Yeah no I think most of us use it in place of normal Aluminum. All my contemporary ships use it for whipple shields right now. Speaking of contemporary, my heavy drone looks awesome with the new extruded turrets and angled radiators. Attachments:
