[...] for personnel use, steel has been supplemented or replaced by ceramic plates and in some cases even plastics (tho for lvl III and above you're only looking at steel and ceramic in personal armour) Yeah, UHMWPE laminated fiber Level III personnel body armor has been a thing since at least 2014. It's significantly lighter than ceramic for the same protection level, and the plate is even buoyant in water. It's just about 300% thicker than a Level III steel plate, however; barely fitting in standard plate-carrier vests (some UHMWPE plates need to be "lubed up" in order to be inserted in the vest, else it won't get in). It also "puffs up" when it, because the bullet separates the laminated layers of fibers; instead of shattering it like ceramic plates, or fragmenting the projectile and bathing your jaw and lower face with shrapnel like older steel plates could do. UHMWPE fiber plates are overall superior for most applications; but AFAIK it's more expensive than steel or ceramic. Some of the steel ones have a lip around the top edge at the base of the collar, similar to a 'bevor' but much smaller, to help deflect debris away from the neck. Also a few steel ones have a 'spalling liner' on the outside made of some kind of fiber to help stop debris from deflecting off in most any direction.
Kind of makes me wonder why no one that I've seen has tried to make an actual bevor out of ar500. It wouldn't have to come up higher then just below the chin and most of the weight could be on either the shoulders or the plate carrier itself. It might obscure some vision but how often do you have to look directly 90 degrees down in a gun fight and what armor profile are you presenting to your enemy if you're looking at him at that angle? It should actually fit under a level 2 or 3a clear visor perfectly fine, although it would probably interfere with the kinds of gas masks that I've tried.

light stinger drone The upgrade to the stinger that I've been beating most of the levels with on my replay. Has just enough armor not to instantly die to lasers, and seven independently targeting guns also makes it much more effective in the intercepting drones and missiles role. Been trying to experiment with heavier drones with more advanced weapondry, but nothing so far seems to really compete with this 3 ton wonder.

Create strong ship, which can fire all guns forward first gauus, late auto railgun plus cannon etc. If decrease vcs and UHMWPE to 1 cm for example we get ~500 mc and 35 kT, so it deltaV will 7,2 km/s and armor will strong on good angle too

I wonder if I could whack it with some of my stock stuff.

I have pushed a bunch of easily swappable stock reactor replacements to the workshop. They all use HEU, are all substantially shielded and they share space and radiator requirements with stock reactors (if the reactor is much smaller than its stock counterpart it can be padded to exact same length using just stock spacers).

It's great that you're sharing your work. I also want to share maroon vector that I recently used in my work. And I will definitely show you what I got.
