I do appreciate that thought, Ms. R.W., but the point is that the WWI plane cockpits are not made from cardboards. I, J. Starmaker, want to make it clear that the crews' lives are more important than everything else. Well they are made of fabric stretched over wood, so they don't amount to much more. We appreciate your concern, Mr. Starmaker. Your complaint has been filed under department 42394-B and will be addressed within the century. Thank you for your patience on this important matter. (I do wonder though, if we had biological immortality and lived in space, whether beaurocracy might actually become so protracted... but we're getting pretty off-topic.)

imgur.com/kNVfbS8Sol Invictus, my heavy laserstar I have been updating since basically forever. I use a lot of modded materials to accomplish this, and had to edit the Limits.txt file for bigger radiators and increasing laser max range. Annihilates anything within 10 Mm, but doesn't touch anything beyond 10 Mm. Seems like a limit of the game, not the laserstar.

Only 14. 6 for the reactors, 6 for the lasers and 2 for the crew compartment. I edited the Limits.txt file so I could make bigger radiators. An earlier version of this ship was over a km long just so I could fit all the radiators.

Improvement to my mainstay 'Orb Gun'. v1.1.0 v 1.1.1 Couldn't you in theory got even more velocity out of that with multiple stages? That assumes the projectile doesn't implode first.

Couldn't you in theory got even more velocity out of that with multiple stages? That assumes the projectile doesn't implode first. A little, yes. If I give it a second stage and increase the wire radius to 7.16mm so the barrel doesn't explode, it achieves 19.3km/s, but then it requires double the power to achieve the same rate of fire. After about 4 stages nothing really happens; people have commented elsewhere on such drastic diminishing returns stemming from how every stage is the same length and every capacitor the same per stage.

Just randomly covered one of my ships in external tanks from another class. This reminds me of something... Yep. Bit harder to imagine what spaceship crews would really put on their hulls in the hope of added protection... perhaps armour plates from decommissioned enemies. Heavily patched over whipple shields could be a feature of prolonged engagements.

Maybe allow you to carry, in a cargo module, spare armour material, and then during time spent out of combat, armour is repaired at a certain rate (dependent on materials, extent of damage, excess crew and such)... also maybe make it so that only the innermost and the outermost layers can be repaired - as they are the ones that are easily accessible.
