Anyone tried a Graphene-Vitreous Carbon thermocouple (both materials are modded, but compliant with current research)? It's pretty ridiculous, especially when combined with 'Tantalum Hafnium Carbide filled with U-233' fuel and 'Tantalum Hafnium Carbide filled with Boron Carbide' control rods (all modded, to simulate encapsulate fuel). A 50 GW reactor weighing only 106 tons is pretty awesome/ridiculous.

Current larger reactors consume large amounts of volume and use ludicrous amounts of coolant. Once we can model thermocouples beyond "simple cylinders" or perhaps implement turboelectric power this might get better.

Still, graphene and vitreous carbon make for the best high temperature thermocouple.

Hafnia is the best capacitor material.

Hafnia is the best capacitor material. I think PTFE capacitors might be useful where mass is critical.

I couldn't get anything worthwhile out of ptfe, even at maximum size it was still 1/8th the velocity I get from hafnia, but it might be situational, could be better for a certain power range of rail/coilguns.

Ok, so can we get an idea of what in this thread still works in 1.1.0? And can someone who actually knows how the frick all of this works post a guide on how to make rail and coilguns? Because I'm trying to create a railgun to replace the 33 mm cannons on the Stinger and Hellfire drones with, but am running into issues with miniaturization.

Railguns just need some tweaking. But I think our old coilguns are impossible now.

And will this thread have the export files?

Gimme a bit to recreate some of the modules, and I'll start uploading the export files for them. EDIT: Couldn't get the MPDs to work, so I just did the reactors. Here they are. The Power of Dropbox compels you!

This thread might be a good start to fill the wiki.

As far as I can tell for coil gun barrel material when trying to improve on stock designs it seems like tungsten works well. Barrel can be thinner and it doesn't overheat.

The Power of Dropbox compels you!Uh, the shady redirect thing prevents the link to work (for me at least) with its spying. I can see it clean by quoting you (as, to be extra pernicious, it doesn't show in your own posts), so here it is once broken down: https : // www .dropbox .com /sh/7s49gvx9lbvq1r6/AADnzhlD0nOO6KUw0ioRDx7ha?dl=0
