So today, I decided to focus on building a missile that can kill 1 gigawatt laser armed warships reliably.
So I made this.
A massive change of my Arrow series missiles, which is so dramatic that I most probably need a new name for it except it actually LOOKS like an arrow.
Basically, I just straight up use a lot of silica gel, and truth to be told, it's still pretty damn effective against laser.
In fact, I'm thinking on just moving back to using silica gel again because it's so much easier than clicking complex armor composition for all of my missiles.
Anyway, back to this Arrow missile.
I tested it out against a ship armed with a single well made gigawatt laser, and it took it more 20 seconds to burn through the silica gel.
While it can reach the ship in approximately 200 seconds.
I actually managed to kill the ship with just 20 missiles alone, which is dirt cheap compared to the ship I'm killing.
So I upped the challenge by trying to destroy my warship armed with TEN individual gigawatt lasers.
Nothing I have in my arsenal has managed to kill the damn thing.
100 missiles finished the monster off, reliably.
But only 50 missiles can probably do it reliably if only 20 of the missiles didn't crash into each other and exploded...
So yeah, I think I just found my GIGAKILLER.
Anyway, moving on to design.
I basically tried to squeeze everything out of this missile, min-maxing it as much as I could.
It grows from a 25 kg missile, to a super laser killer that weight more than a 100kg.
It was about to breech 200kg before but I found a neat way to reduce the weight without sacrificing the delta-V.
Namely, I made the front and end of the missile narrow with smaller fuel tank.
It didn't just reduce the weight without decreasing the delta-V. It also make the missile last even longer because the tip was made even steeper than before.
It also ACTUALLY looks like a freaking arrow, so that's nice.
I'm going to and try see if I could squeeze out any more of this missile, because this is a very nice design.
