For armor shapes other than cylindrical, changing the aspect ratio (Above ~2) seem to cause projectiles to bypass the armor. I tested this with aramid fiber stuffed whipple shields, and even monolithic plates of steel and ceramics. Either that, or tips of those crafts have no armor.

That depends on what you mean by tip. I've found that any ridge or point on armor is always significantly weaker than a flat or curved part. My target dummy in particular has a sharp conical nose and anything that hits the front 2% or so of the ship goes right through. The next most vulnerable part is the bottom edge of the cone, right above the transition to a cylinder. That takes way more damage at the same angle than anywhere near the middle of the cone.

I know very small missiles can have minute holes in their tips when the armour isn't made concave (like there's 1mm of spacing, and the concavity switch flips which side of the spacing the armour appears on), so I guess changing the aspect ratio stretches that hole out.
