You, RiftandRend, are awesome! And another thank you for the free engine boost. I was able to further improve the railguns since then but it looks like they didn't need it if they're hitting from 400 km. They didn't even know what hit them, did they?

Definitely going to keep these two. Your firepower is pretty solid, the only major upgrades I can suggest would be using detached laser optics and designing your own missiles and drones.

Well hello everyone. Let me begin by posting the biggest space cigar I've built. See for yourself if you can load it in sandbox without your computer melting. Alternativley I propose a challange: Whats the cheapest fleet you can put together that can blow it to so mutch slowly cooling wreckage? So without further ado, I present to thee the mighty Dreadnought. Four hundred and twenty nine thousand tons of pure die. A ten gigawatt laser and 480 NEFP endabled missiles for standoff engagements, and 60 10MW lasers for counterbattery operations. Medium range firepower consists of 8 high velocity needleguns, and 3 high velocity sandblasters. Close range firepower is especially impressive consisting of 32 burstfire high power coilguns and 96 light sandblasters. I have so far not managed to kill it in any way, mostly because my game crashes before the projeticles connect, and I wonder, if any of you suceed in bringing it down. A2 Dreadnought.txt (56.01 KB)

Well, a further development in the field of massively oversized carriers: 5.1km long, 198m diameter, 210000 saw 2 drones (no tanker drones, might want to add those), 700 90m lesser extremely large drones, and 24 270m greater extremely large drones. Only costs 133 Gc. Edit: shown next to the previous Extremely Oversized Carrier, which was 3.11km by 165m, and carried far fewer drones.

I have so far not managed to kill it in any way, mostly because my game crashes before the projeticles connect, and I wonder, if any of you suceed in bringing it down. Done with the fleet below, controlled by the player rather than AI. It uses a lasership modified from a version I got on the forums a few patches ago (if you are the author go ahead and claim the credit; I'm sorry I forgot who it was). More pictures and story behind the spoiler. So to have any chance to defeat this thing without the program freezing forever, we would need to use the two best damage-per-frame weapon systems in the game: nukes, to soften up the ship, and laser, to finish cleaning it up. The ships were modified from the original version, which used one 10 GW laser, to instead carry 5x 2 GW laser each. Lasers were also modified to use the highest frequency available without mods. The ships also carry 35 each of the nukes below -- taken without change from the forums: So, at the start of the battle, launch all 350 missiles, and point them at the dreadnaught with a sufficiently high perpendicular speed. This gives it not much time to shoot them down before they arrive. The standoff (standoff pictures from a previous attempt, note the incoming velocity change): Approaching... ... approaching... ... some youtube / notepad++ update / shower / 30 min later, I come back to see it finished processing, and the ship is still there but quite a few of the modules were damaged. We send in all laser ships next, laser ignoring range: They manage to pick off the remaining modules one by one, until eventually hitting through the armor something explosive that disables the ship. A bit hard to tell what it was, though? Laser ships survived essentially undamaged. Here's the code for the laser + nuke ships used in this. I've kinda overdone the nuclear brimstone missile design... It tore a ship in two when detonated 100Km away Good enough C-H substitute for now? Note: Manually trigger both the flak and nuke while paused at the distance you want, eg. 100Km so that you don't let counter-batteries get a chance to hit it. 15km/s dV with 8Gs should be sufficient to outmanoeuvre intercepting missiles in tactical view Edit: Fixed code? I've kinda overdone the nuclear brimstone missile design... It tore a ship in two when detonated 100Km away Good enough C-H substitute for now? Can and you share the code? That thing sounds awesome.
