Is there any chance we could get support for dedicated cosmetic layers in the near future? The ability to apply paints and decals would do much to improve the aesthetics of the ships.

Paint has weight too unfortunately, but it's small enough that it's near negligible.

For the sake of realism i think paint weight should be a factor, but it should still be microscopic if applied properly.

I'd like to test paint as armor for humor value (and maybe show it doesn't work even if you match the color with the laser frequency).
But I also want it for aesthetic purposes, and it should have realistic weight and cost, in line with the rest of the game.

Purple and green dazzle camouflage would be awesome, even if they don't do anything against lasers.
