Hi everyone!
This is a two part challenge. AI is sad, it get beat all the time... Lets help it a bit!
Part One:
Part one is simple, make the best ship for AI battle. The best contender will be picked for the part two of the contest. Contest start now and will end next Friday.
There is 2 category:
1- 500Mc Defencive: Single Ship, must not attack or launch wave at player. A minimum of 2km/s of Dv is required. 2- 500Mc Agressive: Create the most aggressive ship the AI can use properly. Everything is permitted. You will need to specify Enemy Behavior. A minimum of 2km/s of Dv is required.
Rules are simple, if its in game, its permitted. I would obviously prefer if all design are legit, but I can't ask everyone to do the math. If anyone have a solution to this I am all open. So please, be reasonable, no 200km/s guns! Participant will have to provide a userDesign containing only the necessary part to the design.
Part Two:
Part two is were the real fun begin. The participant will be asked to defeat the best ships put forward in part one at the lowest cost possible. Bonus point for defeating all proposed ship with the same starting fleet. I will tweak the rule a bit depending on participation level and proposed ship.
We could declare a winner but I think its unnecessary. The real goal of that contest is to find the best strategy and engineering solution, so have fun!

I kind of like the 500 Mc single ship thing, just because it is so ridiculously large for a single ship. I'm curious what will come out of this.

someusername6 Ahhh, I happen to have created something very similar to this. But yours have much more laser power. I was very disappointed by mine, looks like I was able to defeat it with the exact tactic I outlined on my other tread, I don't know if I subcosiently created if for that purpose or else. But I'm bad@laser so... I will try yours, mind if I steal yours? Edit: At that price, I would have invested in some armor!

By all means, copy / update / improve upon it!
I'm pretty sure the armor and the engines may be optimized. There may be some toggling to be done with the laser sizes too -- I settled on a size that is quite small but that turns around very fast, but I don't know that it is optimal.

Hahaha, I could not find the fuel on that thing. Damn, these radiator are expensive! Sorry, never played with Laser, the full concept is so different to what I use too.
Edit, If you want to rafine it, feel free to. You have a week after all.
Edit2: Ok, thats some serious laser you have there. It kill my drone at max range!

It is kind of hilarious how it saves on fuel but spends on radiators, yes. That is a lot of heat to radiate.
Edit: Yes, it is kind of all chips in on laser / my largest laser design to date. If nothing else I want to see people finding counters to it. I might try to submit another non-laser design to this if I have time and I am happy with it, but I don't think I'm as good with non-laser designs.

someusername6You managed to prove me that my tactic and armor layout could be defeated when scaling up. Thanks allot! I could play with the number, for that price I could dispatch 10 000 Valkyrie carring 200 000 dwarf and 400 000 Lancer. Its sad but there is no CPU that could handle that much ship at the same time. Anyways, now I feel a bit sad. This is just the first part of the contest and I feel that if I do not say what will be the second part ship like yours will not stand a chance. You see, in part two of the contest, I will ask participant to beat up the best ship we got at the lowest price possible, that will be fun! But as it is, even if your ship smoke all my missile, decoy and drone in less than 10sec. it still enough time for a single Valkyrie to fire its main gun, and that's enough to reliably kill your ship. I now feel cheap to not have include the second part in the OP. So, I will edit the OP and include the part two. I am sure you will be able to trim your beast enough to add armor or enough fuel to maneuver. Thanks again.

I hope I didn't forget anything. To defeat your ship, I sent two Valkyrie III on 6km/s intercept. While on pause, I preset "ignore rage" and launched all missile, didn't target any specific part. They all died pretty quickly, but I still got something like 7 sec worth of fire. I believe that you a some frontal armor would be enough to counter the Valkyrie III. But again I sent just two and didn't focus anything... You might want to invest in some maneuver, AI by default try to dodge, but I am unsure if its true for bullet too. Anyway, good stuff! Edit: I have to revisit that armor layout, against green laser of that power it just doesn't work well...

Minor feedback: the code refers to ammo module "40x Lancer III", but only ammo module "100x Lancer III" was defined. I'll create a 40x ammo module and place it there.
