hmmm i did build a nuke shell with a ring of radial thrusters on its center of mass to adjust aim wasnt to good at hitting the target but it got fairly close and could ocasionaly hit things dead on at long range with a tail thruster beter DV and a high muzzle velocity it could be nice havent gotten around to optimizing it but yes guided nuke cannons are plausible as for fragmenting shells havent experimented im really liking the big nukes dont have to worry about actually hitting so much though it helps No I've definitely built multiple nuke guns, and the majority of them could hit with pinpoint accuracy, all I had to do was put a gimballing thruster on the rear. Not sure about frag shells, but NEFPs are probably similar to what you're thinking of, and make me think it's possible. I like BIG GUN. that is my biggest coilgun. will deliver the devastating for the big fortress...with 34.9 Giga credits. lol HOLY HELL THAT THING HITS WITH ALMOST 500 TONS OF TNT PER SHOT. I'm actually kinda jealous lol, that's one hell of a design. Mind if I take it to try and ramp up the power? (Edit I started this post like a week ago andhave been busy, so I didn't see that 500 tons per shot is no longer THAT impressive. Still good work!) Also, after seeing how many people are into these kinds of weapons, and like making them, I'm thinking about making a thread kind of like This one, about being some sort of corporation about building these kinds of weapons, and kind of developing, standardizing, naming and 'selling' them, or maybe one about a faction more like one of the empires from eve online. Basically who wants to make a thread for building these? I'm not really sure what to call it or where to put it (gameplay vs general), but if anyone else wants to we'll go from there

I'd also love the option to target the center of the enemy ship. (center of mass or center of the enemy ship's cross-section) With the big-guns I've shown in this thread, a single hit on the center-line can destroy a ship. I'd like an option to make a center line hit more likely. This would also work well with my CWIS coil-gun. (shared in the current CWIS thread) It shoots about 1000 one gram shells each second at 38km/s and is accurate enough that the bullet stream looks like a continuous ribbon. At 80Km it will easily put all shots within a 1m^2 area.

It was very impressive have 3-4 cannons hurling 1 T slugs at over 700 km away. Accuracy of course was abysmal, I think maybe 3 shots glanced off of a stock gunship over 10 mins of firing. I had to hit the hay before I could try it myself, but have you considered developing a sub caliber sabot penetrator for this one? I've never had much luck with coilgun launched missiles, but if we could just get these 1 T slugs to guide themselves a little bit..,

Target main engines is only a partial solution. The guns pick only one of the engine array to target, and for the stock gunship all the engines are way off-center anyway. (works well for most missiles though)
Btw, the accuracy of my 1T gun improves if you add more layers to the coil and readjust power to relocate the physics bug allowing 9.5-10km/s muzzle velocity. Just two more coil layers makes a big difference.
The problem with using the armature as a pusher for a missile is reduced muzzle velocity. A 1T armature and 1T missile would probably only go around 6km/s. I think the armature dissapears after leaving the barrel as well. (a real waste with a 1T armature!) Also lasers and CWIS guns can target missiles and payloads so lots of shots can get shot down.

Here we create various things on the basis of many people in each of thinking. It seems as if operation is different though it is the same kind of weapon. Your idea is wonderful! I'd love to see what more people made.

soo uhh 1.5 GC seems legit this is actualy compact and has a proper slug shaped projectile in addition to being relatively cheap oh yeah without armour turret and ammo its 133 MC sooooo yeaaahhh

oooooooh YES PLEASE granted you can do this if you realy want to throw 20 tons of well optamized nukes at some one thats 120Mt of nuclear fire in those shells generaly i prefer chemical guns at these velocitys but 5 tons of propellant isnt enough to get much speed

I strongly suspect we are restricted to nuke yields up to about 9.5 Mt or 10 Mt after 1.0.7. I guess you can always put more than one in the same payload (but then why wouldn't you fire them off separately from a gun?)
