With the reduced mass of the Remote control, I was able to create an incredibly light and cheap missile, the Quill KKV. It can kill a gunship in one hit and can easily withstand its laser. Further improvements would likely require limiting editing (higher aspect ratio for the RC and smaller tanks for less mass). If it was possible to reduce the wet mass to ~4.9 kg you would get ~26% less mass in exchange for ~12.6% less Delta-V.

I'm having trouble visualizing this, can you post a screenshot? It looked like this, with a super thick steel radiation shield as the ring, and weapons lining the ring. Huh. That's kind of like my ships.

As ANOTHER a side note. Has anyone messed with spacers and the new concave armors? I was recently watching my friend stream the game (while I was explaining how to make a nuclear reactor to him... fun times). He had the genius idea of using spacers, (the widening kind) to, more or less make a front facing disk of armor, followed rearward with a conical nose like shape going back the rest of the hull. He added the weapons around the ring of the disk. This disk basically protected everything shot at it from the front, when he added an additional disk, and then later a thick steel radiation shield, all as buffers from front facing fire. It looked like an old fashioned UFO got impaled by a rocket, but it seemed to basically beat all the stock designs except for face first nuke contact and flak. I'm having trouble visualizing this, can you post a screenshot?

I have noticed that since the last update my missiles no longer fly reasonably stable. Anyone got any advice? I suspect the reduced mass of the RC unit after the patch is causing your missile's turn speed to be too high. If the turnabout time is less than 1 second then you will have overcorrection troubles.

Features include a single 8-Gt nuke (160x the tsar bomba blast). It's a lone warhead on a one-second timer, designed to ensure that the ship never falls into enemy hands. A crew of over four hundred operates her. My next plan is to build the Pirapus II, which will use a "fireship" configuration of the Pirapus I as a missile. The most effective armor I have found is stacked stuffed whipple shields. Angle the below armor profile at 70+ degrees to the tangent and you should be immune to anything short of multi-MJ projectiles fired at the ROF cap. If you want more protection, increase the thickness of the layers.

Thanks to the armor and RCS design, it's accurate and durable enough to usually take down a Gunship with a single missile, but it's fairly cheap so there's no reason not to fire a bunch of them at the same time. Below are results from a few combat tests I did. Wat. Unmodded, omnipotentvoid has killed a gunship with a 29.5 credit missile. Your missile is roughly 695 times less cost efficient. Okay, I'm perhaps being too hard on the newbie, but how many of your missiles does it take to kill one of these drones? The workshop file for that drone seems to be bugged. It looks like this.

in like 2 hours I got deseated, I do want to see the video of those drones clearing the level. Your station is what inspired me to do it. The only real improvement I made other than minor material changes was using an electric launcher rather than a blast launcher. I don't have any recording software, so no video from me. Ill upload the design to the workshop at some point, so you can try it out for yourself.

It seems that sloped armor is actually really stupidly effective. A Gunship with a sharpened nose can usually survive my tournament submission ( link) with 140 or so autocannons firing 250-gram projectiles. Even targeting the engines to get a focused stream of bullets doesn't work very well, since the stream just ricochets off the RCC plate, or is sufficiently deflected by the whipple shield so that it never connects in the first place. I tried various kinds of guns against it and it seems to be almost totally immune to kinetics. Even a gun that fires 13 kg rods at a rapid rate takes forever to penetrate the modified Gunship when it's head-on, and only manages to do damage when hitting the sides. I had some wins against the ship, but it was fairly unreliable, and mostly happened due to a fuel tank rupturing and sending the ship on a spin, exposing it to shots coming perpendicular to the armor plate. Out of all the guns I tried on it, it seems nuclear weapons are the only choice that can reliably beat a design like that. I designed a rapid-fire nuclear autocannon firing 5 100t nukes per second. 20 of those cannons melt the entire armor and everything inside the ship as well inside a second or two, and they're pretty cheap as well. I guess the sharp nose is so effective at distributing kinetic energy over the armor plate that only pure energy output matters, and that's obviously where nuclear autocannons really shine. Megajoule railguns firing at the rof cap can get through most armor, even sloped. Nukes are only necessary against armor angles near 90 degrees.
