Does it hang while on the steam launching dialogue, or does it get to the loading screen and then crash?

I seem to be getting the same thing here. I try to launch the game on steam, the "preparing to launch" dialog comes up for a second... and then nothing happens and it never launches. I tried launching the .exe directly and I get the error that OpenAL is missing from my computer.
And funnily enough, in the process of making this post, I solved my issue. I went into the OpenAL redist folder and ran the openAL installer and now the game launches.
I wonder what caused the issue in the first place. I tried reinstalling on steam, but it didn't work. I've had the problem before with another game where deleting local content didn't actually seem to completely uninstall my steam games, so maybe that's why the reinstall didn't work. To completely uninstall, I need to delete the game folder manually.
