Newtons a mean SoB, any ship with weapons can kill another given time and good tactics All things be equal is what we are talking about. Sure it's theoretically possible that a WW1 era biplane could destroy a Superhornet. But all things being equal, one type of craft is superior to another. This test was run with AI, but I'm asking if you saw anything you disagree with in the rankings based on your own simulations. The ww1 biplane would have to attack while the superhornet is on the ground. The Russians used then obsolete ww1 biplanes to attack German forward positions. Normally at night, flying low to the ground they would get pretty close before being detected. (Edit) OK not quite ww1 but not far off. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Witches

According to Member votes, it looks like Gunships/Warships are the favorite type of stock spaceship in game over missile ships, carriers and laser craft. It has been decided!

They do have good survivability and range, speaking strictly in stock vessels.
It does seem like the stock drone carriers would give them a run for their money... Hellfires are vicious (in the sense of strictly stock vessels)

Hellfires are vicious (in the sense of strictly stock vessels) I'm with you. Only the fact that stock Gunships have those 100MW lasers allows them to win out vs stock Drone carriers.

bdcarrilloSlightly off topic but... do you have any idea how to make drones/missiles that can dodge, and how to make them actively dodge fire as they close/ know where to point me to find out this info? I looked for a thread that dealt with the topic but didn't find one.

deltav - For drones, you can put a few side-facing thrusters off the center of mass to make them constantly dodge while in combat. It's a very brute-force solution, though, because there is no variable thrust, only fully off and fully on. To stop the dodging, you have to literally disable the thrusters. The AI will never do that, and I don't think it can currently be modded to do that. Missiles I haven't played with much yet.

I looked for a thread that dealt with the topic but didn't find one. I totally forgot they had lasers on board... Dodging for missiles and drones is turned on by default, but I have no idea what exactly controls that behavior. I vaguely recall noting some dodging attempts by vessels only when the enemy is beyond the range of their own weapons. It may be triggered by the inability to shoot back at the nearest threat.

Thanks I'll try it. bdcarrillo I haven't seen dodging happen on it's own in game, but I'll run some sims. I had an idea that if missiles and drones could dodge on their way in it would make them more lethal. Just an idea I wanted to try out. (Yep those lasers + flak make the gunship really something.)

AI vs AI Stock Ships Battle Ranking! 03/05/2017 New AI vs AI lineups since 1.10 are finally done. Since 1.10 The lineups have completely changed. Now the Gunship and the Laser Frigate are the top 2 ships. The Gunship is still #1, but has gone up in price by 3 times! Ignore range has also really changed the map. Many former greats like the Ranger, are now some of the weakest ships. One of the best values are the Beamcraft vs Missile Ships and Drone Carriers. It can hold its own vs stock missiles and drones. *Orbital Attack Craft and Orbital Defense Craft lose or draw with Beamcraft, Ranger, Solar Lance and Privatier but beat other ships ranked below them.
