I'm experiencing occasional crashes when firing ultra thin payloads with railguns. The gun from the latest crash is this one: but it happens with all other similar railguns too. From Durandal's comments here I understand that the others are encountering the same crash too. Edit: forgot the payload

Can anyone post a crash log? I've put your weapon in the game and tested it against several targets and been unable to reproduce the crash. Additionally, more info about the scenario(s) in which it crashes would be helpful.

Additionally, more info about the scenario(s) in which it crashes would be helpful. I have a crash log in the first post. Other than that the only thing more concrete that I can tell you is that it seems that the more fragments the frag bomb has the higher the chance to crash. Initially I was using materials which generated a lot of schrapnel like irridium, iron , nickel and osmium and the crashes were more frequent. Later switched to boron and magnesium the crashes almost dissapeared. At the end tested it with pottasium and for the moment wasn't able to reproduce a crash with it. I'll try to run some additional tests to narrow it down more. Edit: Switched back to iridium to increase the crashes... still doesn't happen very often. I'm adding another crash log. I had two ships with guns like those firing on a fleet of stock ships. Managed to destroy half the fleet before I got a crash.

Ah, I'd already fixed that crash. Didn't realize the crash log was related to this post. Thanks! It'll be fixed in the next patch.

concretedonkey still getting ludicrous lag from 653 osmium fragment impacts. Let me know if you can achieve high damage needleguns without the extreme lag.

Thing is, there isn't much to show really, I haven't played for a few days before the update, and after that I'm frantically experimenting with drop tanks on small missiles and lasers. Before the patch I settled on three setups , one iridium one boron and one pottasium. They look like this : As for the effectiveness, this kind of relative, isn't it ? Those needles are not going to get you penatration against multiple meters of anything but against relatively thin armor they are a killer. Also this is strictly secondary weapon for me , usually I'm punching hard with missiles before tactical range. I'm a strict believer in having a lot of options and there is hardly anything more multipurpose than a very fast railgun.

qswitched Had another crash from osmium-needle railguns today, supposedly after crash is fixed. However, my last crashlog was December 21st. Is there a limit on crashlog backlog?
