As I understand ships should accelerate faster or slower depending on the ratio between thrust and mass, but yet they do not. Why is the game made this way? It severely skews the way in which refueling works and the way in which high fuel/mass ratio missiles accelerate.
I hope a realistic acceleration gradient will be implemented at some point.

Ships do accelerate faster as their mass reduces. Where do you get the impression that this is not the case?

Hmm, maybe put in a acceleration rate besides the delta-V fuel meter of the ship to show that it's going faster?
