If the player uses the menu option to unlock module design, it's not possible to edit any module from the ship editor. Instead the player has to exit the ship editor and enter the module editor. If the module editor is unlocked through gameplay, the module editor can be called from within the ship editor. If the module editor is unlocked by pasting the save file text file, the module editor can be called from within the ship editor.
If the player uses the menu options to unlock things, some AI settings remain locked. If the player unlocks everything through gameplay, all AI settings are unlocked. If the player unlocks everything by pasting the save file text file, all AI settings are unlocked.

If the player uses the menu option to unlock module design, it's not possible to edit modules from the ship editor. Also, some AI settings remain locked. Modules included on the core game cannot be edited. Modules included by mods cannot be edited either. Instead, create a new module to edit it, or save the module you want to edit as a copy, change the copy instead, and replace the existing module on your ship design with the modified copy.
