For your consideration, A replica of the Imperator Automatic Weaponry Dragon's Fire Gauss Rifle as would be equipped on the AS7-K Atlas, and VTR-9K Victor Battlemechs fielded by House Kurita.
Okay so by our standards ~1km/s isn't fast at all, the rate of fire is too slow, the effective ranges are pathetic, and the thing overheats because there isn't any way to have a cooling jacket that feeds into a radiator/heatsink like it would if it was on a mech or vehicle mount. However, it's not too bad for something made to be used in terrestrial applications considering a modern weapon like the 120mm Rheinmetall smoothbore gun mounted on the M1 Abrahms fires a 20.9 kg sabot round at ~1.75 km/s with an effective range of ~3km.
Though Gauss Rifles fire standardized rounds, described as being melon-shaped and 30cm in diameter,[7] they are technically capable of utilizing any object which can be propelled by magnets as "ammunition." In an emergency, a 'Mech could even muzzle-load their weapon with something like a steel girder if their ammunition feed was disabled. Using the Gauss Rifle in this way, however, has a high chance of causing damage to the weapon.[9]
