You can make a stupidly rapid fire, high-velocity missile/payload gun made of UHMWPE fiber or, say, aramid that doesn't use a single watt out of 1x blast launcher, doesn't suffer beam deflection stress and doesn't worry about grain geometry.
I'm pretty sure that's not what was intended.
