Game works fine on my usual gaming desktop, no problems. Had game from release, using mods fine on it, everything just perfect.
Except... I tried installing it on my old(ish) work laptop so I could build virtual nuclear reactors and drones that fire graphite pencils instead of doing anything remotely useful. windows 10 pro, i5 5300U, 8gb ram, intel integrated graphics (HD 5000). etc
Install through steam goes fine. All the necessary things, install fine. Launch game? Gets almost to the end of loading, then crashes to desktop.
Crashlog sed:
So I change settings in preferences to the lowest. Nothing. Run as admin. Nothing. Reinstall. Nothing. Compatibility settings, nothing.
Now, I have no idea which next step fixed it, because I tried them all at once (i was in a hurry, and I just got back from the pub and I had a wee bit much) but, it was one of; reinstalling openAL again, changing permissions on userdesigns.txt, or DELETING the userdesigns.txt created by the game and making one myself with the same name.
Only then I was able to get to the main menu and lag my poor laptop to death. Soon the solar system will fear the might of the laggy nuclear space pencil.
I hope this helps someone out there on the interwebs.
