Drones’ll start doing evasive manuvers when defending warship's external fuel tanks are detached, even when it's over 100 kms away. fuel tanks detached: ![]()  drones went haywire:  Stock drones also display this behavior. |

Also, possibly unrelated, when you hit a ship that has droptanks with a ton of flak missiles, it kills the framerate down to 1 per minute.

Droptanks in general seem to cause lots of lag, which is why I've never really used them. Mass ratios for fuel tanks are so high that there's very little reason to do so anyway. |

this bug can affect missiles too. When a swarm detaches their tanks they all go into a frenzy trying to doge 800 objects at once and burn their fuel instantly.

Droptanks in general seem to cause lots of lag, which is why I've never really used them. Mass ratios for fuel tanks are so high that there's very little reason to do so anyway. Such high mass ratios make non-dropping external tanks pretty appealing. They don't cause lag as they don't trigger collision AI, but can throw craft around when they burst. |

One advantage of drop tanks I really like: it allow you to place some propellant outside your armour enveloppe. So I place my 'terminal' propellant inside my armour, and the initial boost propellant in drop tanks outside my armour. This reduces missile crossection, armour mass and armour cost and increases acceleration and delta-v. |
