Whenever I open the game, it all runs normally but within the missions I can't see ships or planets. Played missions, they worked and all, and could cursor over parts in ship designer but no visual, just darkness and boxes when I cursor over them.If anyone has similar issues and found a solution, please let me know! I love physics and engineering and this game is great and everything I could wish for but I want graphics!

I am not sure, but even Mac CDE should be able to output log or something...

On PC the output log typically goes into a folder under AppData for the user. I don't know where the file would output to on a Mac (or Linux, for that matter), if it even is able to save.

Sounds like something is going wrong with the rendering engine of the game. It might be worth a shot to update your GPU drivers, if that doesn't work I guess the best you can do is post your specs and hope it gets fixed at some point.
Do you still see the UI even in the designer? If I had to guess, there's some driver incompatibility that breaks the world rendering, but not the UI portions of the game.

Yes. I always see the user interface, only thing wrong is world rendering. Also i can see the plates of armor when i make that visible in combat. I see the green, orange, etc. but thats it.
