i was trying this with multiple chemical rockets and couldn't seem to convince it to work, is there a way to do this, would be able to help turnabout times dramatically, and reduce fuel wastage for hard turns

Eh. RCS, as in lateral thrusters enabling superior dodging or terminal manouvers, has been borked in the last few patches.
I'm not sure if it ever functioned properly before.

Someone managed to make a missile with lateral thrusters that could have its guidance blending turned way down and would kill lateral velocity difference with the target before accelerating, or somehting. I've been searching for 10 mins but can't find it, somewhere in the designs thread I think.

I've been searching for 10 mins but can't find it, somewhere in the designs thread I think. That is, quite literally, every single one of my missile designs. All of them have sub-second turnabout times, with damping set to zero. Accuracy is absolutely not a problem, though they tend to dance around so much that a pointy nose is less of an asset and more of a liability. Case in point, this thing: Something I've observed with micromissiles is that as they get smaller, lateral thrusters get progressively harder to miniaturize, often leading to situations where the lateral thrusters end up massing more than the main rocket engine. This could be mitigated to some extent, I suppose, if a single thruster could occupy the entire cross-sectional area of the missile. Basically, the injector is attached one side of the missile, with the nozzle opening on the other side, sort of like a broadside cannon.

thanks guys i'm going to try some of this out, i was using all chemical rockets and perhaps that was the issue, or just the damping on the control was causing it to essentially either not thrust with anything or thrust with everything. I ran into the same issue. It seems the first engine you've placed defines what forward is. Try removing all RCS thrusters, then add them back. You should see the turnabout and rollabout times change to something sensible when your main thruster is pointing forward.

Does anyone have any advice on positioning the center a mass of your missile in order to get it to balance and turn properly? I seem to be stuck where the only way to dynamically balance my missile is to turn down the thrust of the rocket. Any suggestions?

Shouldn't engine mass be insignificant compared to fuel mass? Placing fuel tanks symmetrically along the axis of the missile has worked well enough for me. I never got missiles with 0 damping to work though, maybe you're trying to do that? I think I used 0.06 on my most recent one, and that seems to cause no issues.

I would have thought that too but one thing I've found I'm having to do in order to get my missiles to fly true is artificially increase the mass of the engine to a sometimes absurd degree, thus shifting the center of mass right towards the back of the missile. This imposes a severe penalty on the efficacy of the resulting missile in combat so I'm wondering what I'm missing elsewhere. I have taken to powering missiles with black box engines in order to try to figure out why missiles won't stay balanced in flight. I have concluded I need to get the center of balance as far back along the space frame as possible but exactly how to do that defeats me. I'm stuck with 30 kg micromissiles if I want anything to track. Edit to add, I have just designed a black box module with exactly identical characteristics to my rocket engine which turns out to behave perfectly all the way through the engagement while the actual rocket engine module doesn't even track. It comes out of the muzzle of the rail gun and then does basically nothing, not even firing. The weirdest thing is that both missiles show the same turnabout time and the same center of balance on the design screen. What the hell gives guys? Edited to add, I have now gotten the missile motor to fire but the missile won't fly straight, even with a turnabout time of exactly 1 second.
