No railguns, coilguns, missiles,
or drones... except on missions where it forces you to have their ships. On missions where you build your own ships, you cannot use any of those.
Good luck

Oh, so lasers are allowed? :3
That aside, are launchers and blast launchers launching combustion gun payloads allowed?

Oh, so lasers are allowed? :3That aside, are launchers and blast launchers launching combustion gun payloads allowed? Yes, you can use them to fire explosives and stuff as long as its not rocket powered

Might have to try this once I beat it "vanilla."
BTW, what "happens" after you finish all the campaign missions? Does it change into more of a "sandbox" mode where there is an ongoing war between RFP and USTA and the player gets a budget and can design and build fleets and engage in never ending battles with semi-random computer opponent fleets?
Or does it just sort of "end," and the additional gameplay most diehards resort to is just sandbox?

I guess mods/sequels/expansions are the way forward then? We need logistics, ship production, realistic population models, trade! and its economic and health ripples (Jeebus, can you imagine living on an airless barren irradiated rock and being blockaded; sorry the air ration will need to be halved. Please try to breath a bit less . . . maybe take a nap)

I used to have a project called 'Project Prosperous' which is intended to be an alternate version of the campaign. Right now its concepts are revived partially as a standalone game, maybe. Level The Fall of Titan JulianYear 2257.4 Description This is it. We own the Jovian orbital space, and the Liberty Exchange, sensing our imminent victory, is supplying our ships with enough ordnance to ensure the Jovian moons are naught but a nuisance to us from now on. That means that Saturn is the last holdout of the USTA. They've been requesting an audience with we at high command for a while now, with an offer of their own conditional surrender, but we have no interest in that. You see, a conditional surrender would leave them with the means to rebuild and regroup and, over the course of the next few decades, recreate their original military might. They might just strike when we finally let down our guard, confident in our superiority over Sol. If we force them to accept an unconditional surrender through threat of nuking and paving their cities, we can effectively neuter their entire military and their faction in general. The USTA will be forced to capitulate, and we will assimilate all of their people into our own faction, all of their moons and asteroids as our own claims, and then we will be the only remaining superpower of the solar system, of all of humanity. Because once the USTA falls, our economic sanctions against Nippon Prime is sure to collapse their economy as well. Right now, they are squabbling for control over the belt, and our other Admirals are dealing with their marauding, while you will be spearheading the assault on Saturn. Since the rest of our forces are busy fortifying the belt until Nippon Prime collapses, you'll have to make do with what we can give you for invading Saturn. But some good news. Our allies, the Iroquois Resurgence, smelling blood in the water, and eager to take advantage of the collapsing USTA, have taken their scant forces around Saturn and struck Enceladus, taking control of that moon. They clearly intend to start pillaging and claiming the USTA moons as the faction begins to crumble, and to appease us, have offered us a safe staging point from orbit of Enceladus. You'll be launching your assault from Enceladus, as a result. The highest ranking USTA commander, Fleet Admiral Brian Jefferson, has realized this and fled to Titan to protect their capital Mezzoramia City. Despite the fact that their forces have concentrated in low orbit above Titan, we still dare not try to stage our invasion from any other moon than Enceladus as they most assuredly have hidden anti-space missile silos on all of their moons. USF Fleet Adm. Jefferson is known for caution and defensiveness, unlike many of his commanders, and quite the polar opposite of his former second in command that you killed back at Vesta, Adm. Voitenko. We believe he's afraid, as he rightfully should be, being the last garrison of his faction. There's a hero's welcome for you at home, should you manage to eliminate him. Once Jefferson is ash orbiting Titan, the USTA will collapse, the last of their space military defeated. We and the other smaller factions like the Iroquois Resurgence and Liberty Exchange will divvy up the moons of Saturn. Nippon Prime's economy is expected to implode soon after. In the end, we will be the victors. We will be the ones standing over the ashes of our opponents. Sol will be ours! Make us proud. Make your mother, our president, proud. Ah! Good to know! I'm ramping up on a project that will be taking up 110% of my time for at least two years. But a bit of diversion now and then can be good. I have to say, I deeply respect and appreciate the extreme realism focus Q-switched has taken and I hope I can achieve a delicate balance between that same focus and fun gameplay.

I believe that many people would convert to More Dakkaism in response to this challenge. This is the best design philosophy anyways. I beat most of the campaign using ships armed with 30 or so 60mm cannons.

Sometimes More Dakkaism isn't as good as BetterTech TM, as shown in real life back in the 19 th century as nations try to get themselves advanced weapons over saturating the enemy with swords and spears.
