Hello!
This thread is focusing on different methods of producing sufficient quantities of antimatter.
1. Particle Accelerators: Slam two particles together at high relativistic speeds and watch as many colourful subatomic particle pop into existence!
This method is relatively simple to realize and can create decent amounts of antimatter if feed with enough juice.
2. Photon-photon Collision: This technique is more precise and efficient compared to particle accelerators, two ultra-high energy photon collide and create matter-antimatter pairs. This concept is already proven to produce electron-positron pairs. Collision energies of 1.88GeV would create relatively cold proton-antiproton pairs at 100% Energy into matter efficiency. Using this method to mass produce antimatter is an technological and a engineering challenge at the same time.
3. Micro Black Holes: This method uses planck mass black holes that vaporize instantly (9e-40s) and produce high energy matter antimatter pairs. At these sizes proton-antiproton would make up a good fraction of the total hawking radiation flux. For relatively cold hecto-kt Black holes the fraction is at 2% for proton-antiproton, and 20% for electron-positron.
This method requires 2GJ Laser pulses to be focused on an electron-sized spots to produce planck kugelblitze. Proton-antiproton pairs should atleast make up 10% of the total flux of the MBH.
4. Q-Balls: "Q-ball is a type of non-topological soliton. A soliton is a localized field configuration that is stable" Q-Balls are predicted to have the ability to mirror matter into antimatter and vice versa at nearly 100% efficiency, and requires zero input energy. This method requires at least femto engineering, and is purely theoretical.
Do you know any other efficient ways of producing antimatter?
Edit: Thoughts?
