So according to the devblogs for this game, it was designed to be compatible with "black box" future technologies IE techs that just input resources and output power, heat, damage, etc. How would one go about doing this? My first step would be to add antimatter bombs, then move on to hypothetical reactors, radiators, and drives, in that order. I think I can figure out how to kludge together some AM bombs via modding the explosives (though I heard someone had issues getting a new material in-game), but the rest is more difficult.
I apologize if this is the wrong subforum for this sort of thing.
Also, the engine appears to brake if you create a ship larger than ~2 KM in radius, as I did when I created a wide cylinder/basestar type ship in an attempt to test the GW-range laser.

There are black box items that can be created through interface, like weapons, but not all, which i find kinda weird. From what I understand the game does not really care about the innner workings of the modules as long as it can read the output values, so I guess you could edit the user designs files to test anything. I need to take the time to see if I can edit a fuel tank and engine to simulate the total mass, Isp and dV of an Orion drive without actually having to model a whole module.

Someone needs to model some AVT ships/drives.
Should be straightforward except for the Drive, which would have to be black boxed, but they have stats on thrust/ISP/mass etc so that should be easy enough...

I don't see any place to create the black box items? Where is the option to create them?
Edit: Nevermind, I found it in the concepts infobox, it has a unlock all button that reveals the black box engine and weapon modules. They seem to just let you put in any output values you want though.
Are we going to be able to make our own models for things like reactors and payloads? Looking in the data folder at first glance I don't see where the modules are created.

Hi all!
Does anybody know where the save files are located on OSX? In order to set up a Model on the Black Box module. Also, the default weapon model file locations on the same OS.

Any site with lore, specs etc?
