I have found a bug in the Heat signature display screen. For multiple sets of engines it works correctly, but for the ship's nuclear reactors it stacks them (if you have multiple) even when you are in unstacked mode. Consequently when you enter stacked mode it multiplies by the number of reactors again; this gives a calculated value of the heat of a single reactor multiplied by the number of units squared.

I don't understand what the issue being conveyed here is. Nuclear reactors stack heat due to the fact that you have multiple reactors. Engines work on the premise that the hottest set of engines are the ones being used in combat for main propulsion.

The stacking for power generating reactors (engines seem fine) is not working correctly; instead of this Stacked heat output=(no. of reactors)*(heat output per reactor) it appears to be giving this Stacked heat output=(no. of reactors)*(heat output per reactor * no. of reactors)=heat output per reactor *(no. of reactors)^2 This error is only present in the display, not when viewing heat output while simulating. Which is why, for example, the stock 'cutter' ship is listed as having an ambient heat output of 614 MW in the stacked heat display, but in the actual sim puts out ~247 MW ambient, which about a third of the of the stacked heat value displayed (after subtracting the heat output of the lasers). The nuclear power reactors seem to be stacked twice in the display.

I can confirm this - on a ship with four reactors outputting ~66 MW each, the displayed engines-off heat output (outside of simulation) is a bit over 1 GW.
