So, just for literary balance? Yes. The Adamites are thanks to their NSWR fragile enough. I was actually thinking the same thing, the thing is that I can't come up with a compelling technological reason not to use X ray lasers, except to say that possibly there's a mathematical problem implied by my inability to get one to show a pumping efficiency of less than 105%.

What do you even want to use as an mirror for x-rays? Dielectric mirrors based on the mirrors they use in an X-ray machine. They're heavy as fuck but that's why X-Ray lasers are limited to the Crater Class Tenders. They're the only ships big enough to lug the massive bastards around. Everyone else is still running 45 nm lasers.

They're big fuckers armed with a multitude of missiles and 3 sets of particle beam emitters for close range defense. In trials they will dispose of a Crater with trivial ease. If anything I'm worried that the Crater Class are still rather underpowered. Also your bunker busters are just the ticket. I've already included both missile types in the Adamite fleet.

A four hundred thousand ton monster that brings enough firepower to the field to demolish entire fleets.

So adamite ships are aircraft carriers and Commonwealth ships are destroyers. At long range the adamites are superior and at close range the commonwealth has the advantage? Do you want to add some elements to the Crater class to make it more lethal? What you mean with the last sentence?

Think of it more like this. The Adamites have a lower, cruder technology base but are willing to make up for that by spending more. Military prowess and prestige is also an important means to political power in their society. Their warships are also not built with the resources and oversight of a nation-state but rather as symbols of personal power, wealth and prestige by the most powerful members of their political-military elite. It's an edifice that's cracking but thus far they've been able to paper over the cracks by gobbling up all of the single planet star nations in their vicinity in order to make up the resource shortfall. All the while with one eye over their shoulder at the superior technology base of the Systems Commonwealth. I'm not sure what, if anything I should or could add to the Crater Class or her consorts to give her that competitive edge but she's got oodles of power to spare. Regarding your missile designs, you posted up two different designs and I've adopted both in different roles. Thanks very much for your help.

Higher firepower? Better Armor? Also if you have enough power you could add an giant spinal mount coilgun. 50km/s muzzle, 2.5km lenght and 600RPM. Shooting missiles. Forget it, it isn't worth it. Is there anything else I can assist you with? ironclad6

Kerr I'm thinking of adding in a battery of coaxial rail guns to the Crater class to help with orbital saturation fires. Regarding the Dictator class, they are glass jawed bruisers. Massive firepower. Really just torrential firepower mounted on a hull that can't take anywhere near the level of punishment that the Systems Commonwealth ships can. I actually have to go back and review my maths a little bit because I think I can correct the firepower gulf most of the way by correcting the ROF on the Dictator's particle beams. Also, I'd just ignore Enderminion if I were you. He rarely says anything worth commenting on or rebutting. Edited to add, I must have dropped a zero somewhere. Once I fixed the ROF on Davis's particle accelerators it started making sense.
