Hello, all. Complete n00b here--I just recently got the game (and only heard about it a short time before that). Please forgive me if this has been asked (and I missed it in my cursory search), but:
The dev/coding side is all a one-person job, correct? By Zane? (All the other credits are for stuff like testing and music).
So, I just wanted to say, I'd *love* to get at the source code--I am a software dev myself by training, with also a modicum of physics knowledge.
I get that open sourcing software isn't a panacea/isn't the thing to do for *every* project, and also adding paid employees/scaling a company is a non-trivial activity; however, just know that, if you ever do plan to add devs (whether on a volunteer or paid basis), I (and I'm sure many others) would totally love to be a candidate.

The (only) developer on this project is Qswitched. I have suggested the open-sourcing in another thread but didn't get any reaction from him.

If this project got open sourced I would probably die at my desk after a couple weeks of developing a strategic game out of it. If it had more of an exposed modding api we could do some really fun stuff with it also without requiring Qswitched to let us dismantle his baby.

I don't think there's any model by which a payware product can be meaningfully open-sourced, and QSwitched certainly deserves every penny for the toil and dedication a project like this demands.

You can't really open source a full price game, now can you? Well, you can, if you strip away the assets. But CoaDE doesn't have many valuable assets to speak of anyway, now, doesn't it? Partial open sourcing could still potentially work. Create a proper api, then open source all the meat without releasing the underlying engine. That way you can't get anything meaningful out of compiling the source without creating a complete engine to make it all tick.
