Not stock game: I modded the Limits.txt file to increase the max range of lasers, but the lasers don't do any damage until the enemy gets within 10 Mm. As this craft was firing 40 lasers at the same time, and the enemy got hit exactly when crossing 10 Mm, laser wobble doesn't seem to be the cause.
I know that other things should get priority, but I think this shows that lasers are effective at far greater ranges, and I'm curious how deep the rabbit hole goes. The maximum effective range of reasonable laser systems seems like something interesting to know.
