Incase anyone wanted to know what it looks like when the sun has a surface temperature of 70,000,000K Forgot to specify: this is still Trappist-1 with Trappist-1B getting lit up like the fourth of fucking july.

I tried to make one out of the in game rendering, but it didn't work as well, I don't have a big enough screen to fit loading.jpg nor can I use nvidia ansel to render a bigger still. Rip me. You're free to try and use it, or make something similar. Trappist-1C with Trappist-1 in the background. Attachments:

Find your CDE folder, the one that has your UserDesigns.txt file. Then go from Mods folder to Data and create a celestialbodies.txt with the code way up in the thread. The game will update as you load celestial bodies. It might crash if you try to use the campaign tho. It does not crash.

Thanks I'll try it. Very exciting.
Edit: It works! I had no doubts it would. But can I switch back and forth from Trappist to our Solar system? If so, how?
Also is there a way to explore the entire system, say to go from one planet to another?

Unfortunately no switching back and forth between systems and no interplanetary travel as the game engine doesn't seem to allow for either, unless specified in a mission.

Ah okay, so just remove the file to go back to the sol system? I tried that and it's back to normal... And this is pretty cool. Thanks. PS Frame of reference doesn't seem to work, I can't leave the orbit of the planet, but still this is amazing. With some work this opens up whole new solar systems of possibility. Awesome!

You can mod the sandbox in Levels.txt to put multiple bodies in play. Here's an example: Level Sandbox JulianYear 2017 Location MainBody Sol ViewingBody Themis FilteredBodies Themis Mars Earth PlayerAlliance Republic of the Free People EnemyAlliance United Sol Trade Alliance AI Aggressive Fleets Themis -1 Republic of the Free People null AlliedSandboxFleet Mars -1 United Sol Trade Alliance null EnemySandboxFleet Music Far Centaurus Reprise
Just add more FilteredBodies as you see fit. For the Trappist-1 system, you'd do: Level Sandbox JulianYear 2017 Location MainBody Sol ViewingBody TrappistH FilteredBodies TrappistB TrappistC TrappistD TrappistE TrappistF TrappistG TrappistH PlayerAlliance Republic of the Free People EnemyAlliance United Sol Trade Alliance AI Aggressive Fleets TrappistB -1 Republic of the Free People null AlliedSandboxFleet TrappistG -1 United Sol Trade Alliance null EnemySandboxFleet Music Far Centaurus Reprise EDIT: For best lighting, put the furthest one out as the viewing body. Thanks, tukuro !

David367th I got "levels.txt" the first time, and I appreciate the emphasis, but to a noob like me, that means nothing alone. Let me explain. I open the file and see a wall of text with no kind of formatting or anything. So my question is the same as before. "What do I do with this text? Where do I paste it in?" Do I just put it at the top? Where the heck do I paste it in? Also what is "Filtered bodies" and how do I do that? If this is too hard to explain, I don't mean to put you out. I appreciate your help either way.

What I do is muck around in the game files directly. I make a backup of everything in the Data folder so I have something to restore from if things go horribly wrong, then I edit the files that the game uses. In this case, I replace the existing entry for the sandbox in Levels.txt with my own (it's near the end of the file).
Steam will try to restore from the cloud if you don't disable it.
The easier way (probably) is to make yourself a new txt file, name it Levels.txt, put my code in it, and put the file in the same place you put the Trappist-1 system.

I forgot to think if people don't know their way around the two file systems. Putting it in the mod section is probably best since you don't have to make backups or do any verifications if things go south.
