Random thought time...
What would be a good way to counter CIWS and PD weapons if you are a missile?
Randomized minor trajectory changes... AKA the goofy spiralling missiles we see in many sci-fi films.
I figure that it would be most effective at longer ranges where projectile flight time is significant enough that a .25 m/s dv maneuver is enough to cause a miss.
I'm NOT requesting this, just observing/pondering.

If I am a missile, I would tell the engineers to make my armor with aramid fiber, make the missile tank out of thick aramid fiber layer, attach it to a non-explosive propellant tank, and enclose the tank in a thick, sloped armor as a drone. The mothership will deploy those, then they will burn to the enemy. Either crash everything right into the enemy ship, or deploy missiles for sake of targeting problems.

Goofy spirals and lots of missiles. Hence Macross missile spam.
But from my experience in CoaDE, put a thin layer of silica aerogel and stop worrying. Kinetic CWIS is too short ranged to be much of a concern. Improving non nuclear missile lethality is where I am more concerned.
Lead flak warheads ironically are giving me the most effectiveness. But few things beat dozens of nukes that disable engines making them sitting ducks.

Standard CIWS cannons suck. Especially in comparison to the lasers that people have managed to create. So don't worry about armoring against railguns/coilguns/cannons.
You can't really dodge lasers, which are the primary anti-missile defense, so use some kind of anti-laser armor. Either a thin diamond layer backed by AmCarbon, or silica aerogel (though silica isn't nearly as good anymore).

Expensive, but allow missiles to reach the laser craft with ease.

Better RCS manoeuvring for missiles, like dual quad mounted directional thrusters
