I want to put together a means for giving us some form of fleet vs fleet pseudo PvP with the new Ai vs Ai feature, which can eventually be expanded upon into full scale wars (if everything goes well). So I am just going to throw out my ideas here and hopefully we can work on something that works, I also wanted to put out a feeler on who (if anyone) would be interested in something like this.
Lets get the obvious out of the way first:
Each fleet would be limited to both a cost and mass limit (just like the missions with the standard ratio being 10Mc : 1kt)
Each fleet would select an AI behavior to command their fleet (this could be a custom created one as editing that is allowed)
The battles would run in a best of 3 format.
No manual intervention for either side would be allowed or micromanagement of any type (the AI do everything) *Note this may make lasers worse since they will scrap across the entire surface instead of drilling holes and may make the other weapons more viable (though this might just be wishful thinking on my part)*
I would like a 3rd party to conduct the battles (I would actually like to host fights more than actually compete as I want to record them and upload them). This would allow for fairness and the ability to do blind submissions in which the fleet designs are sent to the 3rd party making it so neither opponent knows what they will be running into making multi-role ships more of a requirement and less rock paper scissors and hard countering less of a thing. (This is still subject to change or whatever but I felt blind battles were the only fair way to go about it open to suggestions).
I was thinking about conducting a few mock trials with all stock ships and AI at first if anyone wants to try that out and see how it goes. If it works well we might be able to do a prolonged war where each side starts with 100 ships and chooses 10 each week to send out and they fight until one side is out of ships (probably using cost and tonnage instead of # of ships but you get the idea).
Let me know what you guys think or if you have suggestions / ideas or if you are interested / not interested.
