Video starts with design details of a 1S 1GW flare, launcher, delivery vehicle, and boosting system. Following that is a demonstration of the system against an AI gunship.
At 16:25, I load up a Vesta Overkill instance using my lasboat, Halcyon (6 50MW output violet lasers turned for a 1M spot at 170k mounted concentrically around a missile coilgun), and her sister ship, Persephone (replace lasers with long-range decoy systems)
As can be seen towards the end of the video, this system dovetails nicely with a lasboat for killing missile swarms: The flares force the missiles to maneuver, which may then have their engines sniped by the lasers.
The biggest drawback to the current arrangement of the system is that firing 6 drones at once usually results in them bumping into one another. Would love for the default drone command to be some sort of formation-keeping instruction.
Also, watching the coilgun missile in action against a fleet is fairly chilling. The current design is optimized to core stock ships in a hot aspect, but if i replace that potassium penetrator with an iridium one, it punches holes in meter-thick iridium plate, with the attendant spray of molten hypervelocity iridium that this produces.
