Since osmium won't melt at the high temperatures that we use, and has excellent yield strength, it has potential for use in thermocouples. Tungsten, for example.
Currently, the best ingame high-temperature thermocouple is tungsten-tantalum, and it seems that osmium can easily replace tantalum, making a combo that is more efficient at converting heat to power. Osmium is also far cheaper than tantalum.
Modding and testing, I get reactors with ~10% more power for about half the cost and basically the same weight.

now when the game loads any part made of osmium is instead using beryllium What I did was go into the Metals.txt file of the game (found at \Resources\Data\Materials) and edit the already-existing entry for osmium, adding in the thermoelectric sensitivity value (end result for the entry looks like what pttg posted). You may need to do Steam shenanigans to keep it from updating that file once you edit it.

This will reset all existing osmium parts of modules to aluminium, so anyone with a lot of osmium stuff may wish to bear that in mind.
