What if we took redparadize's 100Mc fleet challenge and scaled it way down, by a factor of 10^4? Woo miniaturization!
Design items to be launched from a ship -- missiles, drones, or payloads. Then design a carrier to launch them (with a carrier module, conventional gun, railgun or coilgun).
Rules: * Conservation of energy must be preserved, if you are using coilguns or railguns. You can use physics-defying guns as long as you are supplying enough power to match the gun's output with 100% efficiency. * Each item being launched has a cost budget of 10 kc / 100 kc / 1 Mc, and no mass limit. Specify which cost class you are participating in. * Carrier has a cost budget of 25 Mc, and no mass limit. It should be crewed, and have no offensive capabilities other than launching the items being launched.
What is required to be posted: * Each participant will post a picture of the object being launched * Each participant will post pictures, descriptions, or user design fragments that are sufficient for anyone reading them to recreate their submission from scratch
No direct PvP, as in the initial thread; I'm more so interested in seeing the designs (and learning from them).

I (hope that) conservation of energy will eventually be patched, or that someone who knows more science than me can explain how actually the energy is coming from the magnetic metal glass or something.
But I don't want to build something that will be patched away and may have no equivalent.
Edit: Or, you know, put a 36 MW or so reactor on the carrier. There is one around the forums for 34.2 kc, it should amortize out.

I'm in the same boat. All of my current drones are using a 12kw railgun that generates about 26kJ of muzzle energy with a fire-rate of "Oh god, why!" and a total energy output of several 'megawhats?!'
Still sounds like a fun challenge. If I can get some time to play that is :/

It will be hard to have fighter style drone that launch missile. I am up for it but I would argue that it should be raised or removed.

The reason why I put a cost limit is to see small drones / missiles -- if the budget limit were 1 Mc, I don't expect I'd see many designs that are "micro". But your point is fair. I'll edit the original post to add 3 size classes, at 10 kc, 100 kc, and 1 Mc.

here is my entry in the 10 kc category.
It has 300 railgun drones, 200 anti-ship missiles and 2000 Swarmer anti-missile missiles. Pretty much every module is custom made so i wont post all of them here. If someone is interested how some part is built I can post that part on request.

Here is my carrier. I may post a alternate design that include my new pocket battleship drone, but for now I will stick with the drone 10kc requirement. Hydra I is a dual engine carrier. NTR and MPD are both running on Methane and capable of delivering 7.5km/s at high trust or 67km/s at low trust. Thunder I is a missile attack drone carrying 9 dwarf 2.66kt M each. Dart III is a fairly standard gun drone. Its gun fire 10g rounds at 2.6km/s and is quite accurate at 100km (out of range). Torsh I is a missile defence drone carrying 10 Flare missile and is used to cover attack wave. Total number of platform: Drone: 900 Dart III 900 Thunder I 100 Torsh I Missile: 8100 Dwarf 2.66kt 1000 (1.5MW15s) Flare missile (the 1.5MW flare missile are capable of covering the Hydra itself if main reactor and engine are turned off)

Here's a submission for the 100kc category. One single carrier, launching only one type of laser drone -- with a 48 MW violet laser, intensity of 20 MW/m^2 at 51 km. There are 128 of them. Intended operation is much like a laser frigate -- launch all the drones ahead of engagement, and watch everything burn. Placing the lasers on drones is somewhat less efficient than having just a single carrier, but it lets you split your forces as needed. User design fragments for all ships and custom modules.
