I was experimenting with writing on the side of spaceships with armor layers. Unfortunately, it very quickly hit the cap for number of armor layers. In fact, the cap of armor layers seems quite low even for non-decorative purposes. A serious design with whipple shields and a citadel would also be fighting with this limit, along with any other elaborate armor distribution. Is there a physics reason for the armour layer limit? Can this limit be increased or entirely removed? As an additional request, when having armor with <100% radial, I would like the option to choose both a radial start and radial end.

Yeah I would love to have support for more armor layers. As it is I am pretty sure the limit is for performance concerns not a real world physics issue. So the limit is there mostly to provide increased performance for the game.
Also it would be nice to be able to paint ships anyway you want. It would be interesting to experiment with white anti flash paint or simply be able to decorate our ships the way we want. Mind you it would be unreasonable to expect a very detailed painting system from this game but it would be nice to be able to decorate vessels to an extent the way we want.

Yeah I mean it would be awesome to have and any anti flash paint we could use would be nearly useless considering the closeness of the blast but it might help! Mostly it would just be nice to be able to put text onto our space ship and things like that.

Where are the files for fleet insignia in the game? Can't we just swap them out so I can plaster my cool pixel art on all my ships?

It'd still be useful to have an ingame painter or at least image importer/UV map generator maybe to avoid fiddling with the files, at any rate
