I would argue otherwise. Multiple campaign missions count the portion of capital ships you lose or have undamaged, implying they are valuable whereas missiles and drones are not. But we don't see their names or their faces, therefore we don't care about them all part of the plan On the other hand, the only Kerbal I really care about is Jebediah.

Nope. I don't even have the game yet. Wouldn't all that mass together infer greater armor and firepower? If I had a ten kilometer ship, that's ten kilometers you gotta chew up before I stop. I'm speaking entirely out of ignorance, mind you, I don't know these things. So I'm a little, very late, to this but the scale of KSP and CoaDE are so different. Like, a large orbital warship in KSP masses ~120 tons, while a small warship in CoaDE is more like 1,000~2,000 tons. And you want to keep them dimensionally small: larger cross sections mean you can be targeted at a greater distance, which is not good, but usually dosen't come with a penalty to maneuverability because you just design and implement a more powerful thruster array for your warship. And as others have said, you command a fleet of ships/drones/missiles that you can split to go to seperate orbits/objectives and link up and reform the fleets and another orbit/objective. The limiting factor isn't really how big you make your ships, but like coilguns firing 50 user designed guided nuclear munitions a second for the 7 minutes it takes cross the 10,000 kilometer void between you and the enemy. That's like 21,000 individually tracking missiles per coilgun, and you could ring your vessel in groups of 30 at a time. That would destroy your enemy, but not by first destroying your framerate. To be fair, you don't need 630,000 missiles in the void at the same time to win, more like 200~300.
