I drew this because I don't have access to a computer, so please forgive the poor quality. This is a Trimodal reactor (power, thrust, laser) that expands on Sweetiebot's design. The gas dynamic laser uses the hot coolant to pressurize the gas medium rather than chemical combustion, and the high velocity gas from the interaction is routed through a turbine, then cooled and returned to the heat exchanger (the mess of pipes near the reactor). is this is still BI-modal because of Laser Thermal Rockets? maybe?
no offense ment, nice job

I doubt a laser expander can handle the same temperatures and pressures as a dedicated rocket nozzle. It is much simpler to run the laser mode as a 'bleed off' apparatus that just diverts some hot gas from the reactor. Also, the laser would need very pure nitrogen or other special gas that might not be the best fit for propulsion. Maybe include an efficient heat exchanger and keep the turbo/laser loop completely separate from the reactor?

No mixing of coolant or re-mass occurs.
