Anyone have a good design for CIWS-ish systems designed to stop missiles?
Ideally it'd be a cheap, low-mass and power weapon system that can operate independently from the ships' main weapons, and doesn't need babysitting.
My preference is for lasers simply because ammunition mass isn't a concern. On the other hand, a reasonably accurate e-gun that can hit a missile reliably would be fairly effective.
Related, is there a way to have each turret pick targets independently?

Check out concrete donkeys ballistic accuracy thread for good designs. IMO the best gun is the first (the one with aluminum copper lithium barrel)

no their is no way for turrets of the same type to shoot at different targets, also lasers get better the more power you pump in, a 10Gw laser is better then a 1Gw laser (with the same mirror). Attack and Defense lasers have big mirrors for armour penatration, while Counter battery lasers have small mirrors for max spot size. Use big mirrors or high power lasers for defense

Haven't tried it with kenetics or multiple targets, it might work on terminal with KE weapons.

Sometimes different ships fire on different targets, so I will experiment at some time with CIWS drones to work around the targeting limitation.

yeah, being able to spread fire would be nice...
