Under Steam / Steamapps /common / Children of a Dead Earth / Resources / Data is a file named "Factions". in it, it names the faction emblem as EnsignName. But I don't know where they are pulling the emblem from. The following is the title for each faction and their emblem Faction Republic of the Free People CrescentAndStar Faction United Sol Trade Alliance GearSunAndShield Faction Iroquois Resurgence HiawathaBelt Faction The Liberty Exchange CreditAndOrbit Faction Nippon Prime RadioactiveRisingSun

The emblems are hardcoded, so you have to use the ones listed. You can recolor them though.

Then how do some people change the stock ship though steam? Stock ships are not hardcoded. Fortunately. Will take a look during working over a new campaign, when I'll get into the actual mission building. Stock ships are bad even for mission sketching.

Stock ships are not hardcoded. Fortunately. Will take a look during working over a new campaign, when I'll get into the actual mission building. Stock ships are bad even for mission sketching. And stock factions are even worse. Each faction is a stereotype of what Westerners think of themselves and of their enemies. You know a lot more people play this game than just Americans. Which is why I'm trying to make new factions along with new ships for each of them. I would be better if they made the factions based on mythology. And showed them trapped in perpetual war with each other. Seeing the war not only through the eyes of each action, but also understanding their philosophies and worldviews. Right now I'm trying to add the "Valknut" to add a Norse faction. And here's the list of stereotypes for the stock factions Republic of the Free People : United states of Islam United Sol Trade Alliance : America's fear of their Cold War enemies Nippon Prime : America's fear of their Japanese enemies during world war 2 Iroquois Resurgence : America seeing the people they almost wiped out as terrorist The Liberty Exchange : And of course the good of capitalism

While factions look a bit stereotypical (well, with an exception about Paki-India conquering space), the docs about how the war is being waged are pretty solid and describe the war nature pretty well.
Also, if you intend to continue the story, these factions are what you've got to work with.

In this case also consider utter lack of USA derived faction a fitting punchline.

But indeed, all of them look grotesque, in combination with all the violence occurring. I will try to preserve a bit. A few sketches I've come up with and use for my new campaign "Dust and Sand": RFP didn't exist long after The First Solar war; the war undermined a lot of civilian production branches and led to the Mars being slowly dying and unable to sustain itself without diverting a lot from another RFP bodies. The Moon, which is being a bit of mentally different due to the closeness to the Earth, and noticeably independent due to its richness in resources, reacts to it with a secession, with the last straw being all the production lines and resources for the Earth terraforming diverted to Mars.
Moon and a lot of dependent bodies became an another faction in the Solar system, fighting for its dream of terraforming and recolonizing the Earth, while Mars is eager to return its richest colony, which may be sacrificed to save the red planet.
This should be the second of the three campaigns (vanilla, this and another one) describing the humanity homecoming.

In this case also consider utter lack of USA derived faction a fitting punchline. The Republic of the Free People is the USA faction, only with cultural appropriation of Islamic symbols. This is best seen with the word "free" and "republic", which is the way the USA sees itself. The Republic of the Free People also fights all the peoples, which the USA has fought in the past. Now in the case of intent. It been shown the Republic of the Free People as the bad guy faction through various missions. The best example being the one where you have to rescue some senators daughter from her mutinous crew. They try to transmit to you that you're being tricked to before being jammed. You know there may be a reason why the Republic of the "Free" People is a war with United Sol Trade Alliance, Nippon Prime, Iroquois Resurgence and elements of their own military. But has no problem with the “Liberty” Exchange My problem comes though with the very end where it starts to justify genocide of United Sol Trade Alliance, and the blockade of Nippon Prime. I would had no problem with the story if they were not trying so hard to justify the ending.

There is too much bad blood between the two. And none of these factions should come to been. Think of the Iroquois Resurgence for example. I'm trying to come up with a more realistic world, to go with my more realistic ship designs. I don't plan to use the in game factions or their ships in my scenarios.

Yes is unique, a lot of sci-fi settings don't have a Native American faction. So I would agree it is very unique. I have no problem with a Native American faction, I would prefer there would be in most game settings. But how is this appropriate? Also how does the USTA borrow from the USA? This faction is made up of Russia and China. Who from the in in game description, are described as going to war with each other, and then allying with each other.
