At the middle of an very easy engagement my fleet was intercepting 20 striker nukes, my point defense very easily took them out no sweat, just as the last nuke dies one of my ship suddenly lost power generation?! I checked the armor, there was no damage at all!

What ship was that? Where did the nuke go off in relation to the ship? Was any module destroyed? Did it collide with another ship?

It was a custom ship I built with 2 60MW fission generators and a bunch of assorted guns. Non other module was destroyed, no collision, armor perfectly intact. I'm not sure the last nuke detonated or got destroyed by point defense. In any case it happened around 1 to 10km range.

I don't know what caused this, but it helps to have redundant power generators and radiators. Also, two more tips: target incoming missiles' engines and drones' weapons and disable distributed targeting for your lasers. The first will prevent the lasers from wandering about the drone/missile whole fuselage, the second is to mitigate laser ablation cap.

I think it may happen if all radiators cooling the reactors are destroyed

If both reactor(s) and their radiator(s) were intact it might have been caused by bisection bug - game counts ships with missing rear part as without power generation even if they have both power and radiators. It limits usefulness of distributing vital systems somewhat.
