So... which form of amorphous carbon is amorphous carbon? How exactly is aluminum oxide different from sapphire? Which form of aluminum oxide it is? Boron nitride? Which - cubic or hexagonal? Titanium dioxide? Which? Etc.
The game could really use more specific material naming or brief material descriptions accessible on mouseover.
P.S. I am genuinely curious about identity of CoaDE's amorphous carbon.
Brief material desc sounds great! If possible, make it possible for modders to add desc to everything, too.
Think of it, when you hover your cursor over an item (material, ship, module, mission, planet...), a short desc appears.
Material Diamond Desc We've somehow managed to acquire a large mass of giant monocrystalline diamonds, ready to be carved into things. Enjoy.
Material Amorphous Carbon Desc Grade A soot.
Material Graphene Desc Can do everything except leaving the laboratory.
Diamond is probably CVD so you *could* make arbitrarily large pieces *if* you had time, energy, large enough chamber and time. Did I mention time?
Also, why have you removed "graphememe"?
3D graphene could be *really* interesting, so could be graphene with sheet stack moulded around something (like your pressure vessel, or hull), although the latter would be quite daunting to make and the former isn't a picnic either.
Other than that we already have bulk graphene - it's called "graphite" and isn't much to write home about.
AtomHeartDragon From one of my friend that is in the research field of crystal growing, that diamond's covalent bond is too strong, a single bond dislocation will cause the whole crystal to become polycrystalline. (He also said that is just one of the reasons, may not be rigorous.)

I made the Chinese Localisation. -- My Science Fiction -- The avatar picture has no relation to furry.
I always wondered why diamond was so OP in game. No graphitization. Low cost even when diamond is so hard to make. What are on the ship's armor? Diamond plates I suppose, there's no way a single crystal covers in 2.5mm my entire 350m-long ship.
