Maybe The Lost Fleet by Jack Campbell. I mentioned it in the other thread.

( Moon is a Harsh Mistress comes pretty close to being magic-free, too) none of it is military by any description, and no space-combat takes place (though the Loonies threaten to use gravity-powered kinetic kill weapons on the Earth they never actually do). They do not only threaten. They actually run damn near out of ammunition[1] with 5 shots left before Earth starts folding. Cheyenne Mountain (where NORAD is) is actually hammered many times, in several strikes with several rocks each. Turns out that the first or second hit actually decommissioned NORAD ... [1] not the rock payload, rock's cheaper than dirt. But you need some armament to use the catapult --- rocks tend to be isolating and not very magnetisable. Having a steering and control unit to place the rocks in exactly the right trajectory or be able to abort may come handy.

I'm a huge fan of sci-fi. I have quite a large collection of books in this genre. To some extent, they even inspire me to study. Although to tell the truth, it's hard to learn. And you often have to look for help. But since my studies will be over soon it's time to look for a reference letter service to write a reference letter. Only experts can make it competitive.
