Neat, just got home from work. Is it going to be livestreamed? if you want it to be, i'll do that, but i got some shoutcraft kings to watch Its cool, I'm heading to bed soon anyways.

I used versions of [...] Rocket Witch's miniaturized drone designs. That's fine. To an extent I actually dislike being credited for my work. I don't think someone who doesn't want their designs to be copied would even share them, instead just a cropped picture of the ship without any specs. As it happens I don't have an entry, so if you're going to be bringing the ship that spews gun-mines everywhere, that's great.

ok everyone. this is the moment you've been waiting for, i'm gonna record the fights very soon, expect some updates on the op ps - sorry batflag. but i could'nt fit your ship in the tournament, that would require me to have an extra 8 players for the tournament to work That's a shame.
This design uses a decoy method which probably won't work without the element of surprise. Since I hate for my work to go to waste, I'll go ahead and release it here in case other tournament players want to test it on their own: (must revert to version 1.1.1 in steam)
Will give it a try, but it's not importing for me currently; looks like the leading tabs got stripped during cut-and-paste or reformatted. Maybe if you include as code rather than plaintext?

Well, should be real interesting.
My design is a carrier; pretty standard decane NTR. The backup guns are 50mm conventional, firing relatively heavy slugs at about 2Km/s with a pretty good rate of fire, and are intentionally rather inaccurate - given that velocity they're always going to be outranged anyway, so no point in sending a narrow stream of slugs through empty space; the plan is to spray them all over the general area in hopes of getting a lucky shot (or a least a radiator).
The drones are cheap and tiny. Just under 2kc with a fluorine/hydrogen engine (4.5 Km/s dV with the drop tanks), a 16mm conventional front-mounted turret (4g diamond at about 2Km/s), and a diameter of only 20cm with the drop tanks gone. Armor is intended mostly as anti-laser (nitrile rubber backed by a thin layer of amorphous carbon). The idea is that the minuscule size makes them so difficult to hit that they aren't outranged by much more powerful weapons systems. AI lasers, especially, seem to spend a lot of time fruitlessly trying to kill these at long range when they could be targeting the carrier. "Reckless" AI will launch drones in waves of 25, which is less than I'd like, but... Oh, and they have a standard minimal 95t nuclear warhead, because why not? Occasionally one will get an engine kill with that, and once a target is immobilized the next wave will usually shred it.
Also, the carrier itself uses RTGs exclusively, and has a lower heat signature than the drones when its main drive is off. Unfortunately the AI won't really take advantage of that, but I'm hoping to get some missile distraction from the drones regardless.
This whole design is mostly my (possibly fruitless) resistance against laser dominance; high-speed missiles or very high velocity railguns will probably be a problem.

Anybody want nuclear propellants for combustion guns?

Anybody want nuclear propellants for combustion guns? hell yes, heard of operation plumbbob, one of the shots got 900kg (One Imperial Short Ton) of steel moving MORE then 66km/s (they only got one frame from the highspeed camera it was that fast)

We detonate fission bombs inside a gun/cannon to push the projectile out. (Realistically it'll be destroyed by the force of the bomb, though)

Since entries are more or less closed, here are the stats of what you'll be seeing. The cost is 2.5 Mc, so it's 2 ships. That means the entry contains 3.6 GW worth of lasers and 400 MW worth of railguns that fire flak rounds at 50 km/s. Yes, the weapons are literally picked off of my drones that I linked in my signature. Due to having 36 lasers in an engagement, the pair will reliably defeat a set of 25 of my laser drones (which I thought someone may snatch and place in this tournament).

Suggestion: Run combat between two participating designs at least three times. Scientific method must be used for best accuracy.

I just went with a single ship with a ~230 km/s railgun. The hope here is that I'll be able to get a few shots downrange before the laserstars melt through my 9-10 cm of rubber. Also I'm crossing my fingers that the simulation doesn't start with the two ships right next to each other, like it did a few times during testing, otherwise I instantly lose to lasers and probably everything else.

1. When is this going to be streamed, and is there a link to the channel anywhere. 2. I'm still open to doing local recording (I probably could figure out how to record a stream to a file too, and edit it up for individual contestants).

Ooook then, that's properly alarming. I did specifically test my minidrones against your BBQ drones (best approximation I had handy for a worst-case scenario) and declared them good-to-go once they stood a fighting chance given a 3-1 numerical advantage. (It helped that the AI regularly crashes drones with more than about 10Km/s dV into Luna). Er. But 36 of those lasers will take half my drone load to get anything through, best-case, and that's not factoring in the flackguns... honestly I think the biggest threat to that monstrosity is that the AI may lose its mind and try to dodge extreme range fire and take the lasers out of shooting arc.

The truth is that I adapted your drones for an entirely different purpose -- decoys to draw fire, as all stock AIs prioritize active lasers, and don't discriminate between dangerous lasers and tiny ones.
