In Children of a Prosperous Earth, these rockets, designed and built by us Skyward Cooperations, are used to for mass transits. Thousands of people are lifting off the planet every day, and not even existing space elevators would do it. In the end, the Transit family of rockets were designed. However, these rocket designs, under the name 'Evacuator', do exist in Children of a Dead Earth as a cheap way to get off world. As the Earth slowly dies, millions of millions of people rushed to either the equator or the local spaceport to get a trip off world. Nobody, not even trillionaires, could afford safety. Riding a trip off world is like playing Russian Roulette, with failure chance in Africa, the least technologically advanced area, as high as about 1/10, and even in more sophisticated areas such as the EAM, NESR, United States or India, the failure rates were around 1/100. Strangely, the Japanese trips were rumored to be the safest, but the xenophobic nation won't let other people in. Class: Future (Heavy Mods)The lightest version, the Evacuator Skyhook 40, is a model developed for funds. Thousands of them were sold to other areas of the planet to fund the construction of the two designs below, which provides quick free evacuation for refugees. The Evacuator 40 is a single-stage-to-orbit rocket. It is capable of bringing up to 170 tons of mass into orbit. After arriving in orbit, the crew module detaches and the rocket returned to the surface. Everyday, hundreds of these were launched from our spaceport at Mt. Chimborazo. The Evacuator 100 is also a single-stage-to-orbit rocket. It is capable of bringing up to 410 tons of mass into orbit. After arriving in orbit, the crew module detaches and the rocket returned to the surface. Everyday, tens of these were launched from our spaceport at Mt. Chimborazo. These rockets used methane fuel. They were created through Sabatier reaction, using atmospheric carbon dioxide and water vapor collected from our active traps all around the world, powered by orbital solar farm. Rumors said that the Evacuator rockets participated in the acceleration of the warming of the planet, but even us do not have enough information to either confirm or deny this. Currently, in Children of a Dead Earth universe, we own a few reterraformation stations situated on Chimborazo Mons and a few mountaintops, including the Everest Mons, in the Himalayas Montes. Water vapor and carbon dioxide extraction proves to be very useful for survival, and sometimes extracted hydrogen is used as coolant feeding the space radiators that's also the space elevator providing access to the planet.

Lovely! It's on my to-do list to add them, but it will have to wait a bit.

You people are forgetting that this is a MASS evacuation. Stop thinking small scale and start looking at ECONOMY OF SCALE!The unimaginitively named High Volume Lifter - Chemical is capable of transporting roughly 9 kilotons of payload into orbit, or 3200 people averaging 55000 credits per seat. And the HVL - Nuclear presents a smaller and more economical package lifting just in excess of 10 kilotons of payload or 4000 people, coming in at 30250 credits per person. ...High Volume Lifter - Chemical... That thrust won't work. The gravity loss is far too high. Try ~1.5 g. KSP RO taught me.

The 9.4 km/s delta-v required to get into orbit has already included the atmospheric drag.

My research ( such as it is) suggests that 9.8 km/s includes air resistance and gravity drag, at a total of 2km/s on top of the 7.8 for pure orbit.

Don't forget to have a few hundred meters per second of spare delta-v. The ascend is very likely not perfect, and will cost you more energy then in your calculations.

ICBM - Intercontinental Ballistic Missile If you're launching your missile into orbit, then it's a SSTO missile. If it's not, then it's an ICBM. Technically it is both.

The Evacuator 1200 is our largest single-stage-to-orbit rocket. It is capable of bringing up to 3,900 tons of mass into orbit. After arriving in orbit, the crew module detaches and the rocket returned to the surface. Everyday, tens of these were launched from our spaceport at Mt. Chimborazo. It is the proof of concept that larger rockets mean cheaper cost per person, but we don't really care about that. It's pointless to flee into space if you can't get to anywhere else before your ship ran out of life support. We, in collaboration with many other companies, operated hundreds of fusion-powered liners. Class: Not participatingThe Mass Liner 10000 is a huge spacecraft, capable of hauling tens of thousands of people on brachistochrone trajectories to most planets in the solar system.
