Im totally new to this, what do you mean by hijacking the links? Hover over the links in OP's post, and look at the bottom of the window to see where they really lead. If you have an ad-blocker, you will probably see that proboards has rewritten the links to go to redirect.viglink.com.

There is no redirection for me, even after re-activating adblockplus for the site (I fell for the "Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker" message). I am on Firefox 52.0/Ubuntu 16.04.

What actually is the problem? Everyone seems to be experiencing something I'm not and I can't tell what it is. viglink is a service that tracks links they redirect people too, it's like an NSA spying kind of thing to track people and things they look at.

This also works on chrome, with uBlock Origin -- just add the same two lines to "my filters".
