Apparently, you can stop boards.net from hijacking the links on the forum with uBlock Origin.
1. Be on Firefox
2. Add uBlock Origin: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
3. Go to custom filters in the addon's options: chrome://ublock0/content/dashboard.html#1p-filters.html
4. Add the following:

Prior to finding this solution, I tried various user scripts running with Greasemonkey, but none of them seemed to work (anymore?).
