Hello. It's been a while. Between struggling to support myself financially and trying to get a different game project off the ground, I haven't really had time to pay attention to CoaDE. I apologize. I should clear up first that I still do intend to release patches for CoaDE. I can't guarantee any sort of reasonable frequency anymore though. As you've seen, it's been almost a year without a patch. However, they will still come. Mostly bug fixes and the like, but I hope to get in a new feature here and there. Is there anyway to make coade a little more beginner friendly, and market it more ? As far as i know, ksp has enough of a fanbase to be profitable, we just need all those types of players to know about, and try out coade.

So i Was wondering this. I looked at some other forums, and they said that the auther of the expanse said that they are not cost effective in-universe. This is becuase they are too easily countered, not powerful enough, and to complex. So much so that for PD, its more effective to mount a bunch of CIWS than a few big lasers. Same for medium ranges; railguns vs lasers. They seem to have concluded that laser ranges max out at 300km which seems really low to me. I think becuase of that, they are ignoring the main advantage of lasers: range. What do you think ? Are lasers feasible militarily in the expanse ?

You know, this is kinda why a play CoaDE much less now. The battles are unintresting, and rediculously easy (when ive build my custom ships). I could try to give the AI my custom ships, but it doesmt use them in the roles intended. The whole battle doesnt even give any sense of satisfaction. I could try to keep up with the current meta, cutting edge custom ships here, but tbh, i dont have that much time to devote to this. I think many of the other veteran players feel similar, as i hardly ever see them post on here, and some veteran players have gone completely and are never on. I really hope this game can get updates, or even a whole new game. I really like the idea of CoaDE

I emailed him a while ago and he said he's working on another game set in the CoaDE universe. i.imgur.com/r6IECBS.jpgThat is AMAZING! this game is really groundbreaking, and its such a shame its niche is so small. I hope his new game will be able to draw much more people, and get as famous as KSP

When i have a bunch of Entities in the game (ie a bunch of Drones, or a long thread of shots), the game slows to a crawl. What part of the computer handles this ? the hard drive ? is it a matter of poor processing power ?
please help a non computer expert

Found my problem. I was exiting the L4 to transfer to Europa in a very inefficient manner. Still haven't beat it, but now Delta V is a complete non issue. Current problem is forcing the marauders to intercept. I just spent more then an hour plotting 0.5 m/s correction burns to try and get either the missiles or the gunship to intercept, and they just kept evading. I had to walk away from the computer because I was just unreasonably mad at the end of that. I think part of the problem was they decided to evade by going into progressively lower orbits until they were just skimming the surface, which made for high relative velocity's between our two orbits and narrow viable approach angles between our orbits and Europa. I really wish they would just react to your actual trajectory instead of your planed maneuvers, I'm tired of fighting mind readers. There is a damn good spy in my ranks and he needs to be thrown out the air lock. Thanks for the support guys. I'm going to try again later, maybe. Increased intelligence realism is bothering you ? Think how the syrians must have felt

Basically everything in a stock game already exists, or did exist at one point or another (within reason). You don't have multi gigawatt lasers on modern cruisers, because they take up too much power and don't play well with atmosphere. You do have a few hundred megawatt lasers currently in use for point defense on aircraft for example though. where are MW PD lasers in use ?

Excellent. I seem to have figured out the permissions issue then. With that out of the way, I present the absolutely terrifying "Rebuke" frigate. The Rebuke is, in every measurable sense, a very dangerous ship. Its armaments are simple but deadly for their size; Nine "Fury" 50 km/s turreted railguns and one "Requiem" 100 km/s spinal railgun provide the offensive weaponry with which to eliminate enemies. Defensively, the ship is equipped with 16 cm of graphite aerogel sandwiched between 1 mm of tin and 1.5 mm of amorphous carbon. Additionally, the front section of the ship boasts an impressive 98 cm's of graphite aerogel, providing an extremely tough barrier to laser elimination. Propulsion is provided by a duel system of MPD thrusters and the "Colossus" 32 MN manevering engine; a set of four "Vector" NTR's provide RCS control allowing for aiming the spinal railgun. The craft is also almost completely immune to attack by drone and missiles: The Fury railguns double as an incredibly potent point defense system. The entire package comes in at 730 tons fully load, and costs a mere 6.49 megacredits. It also has an MPD delta-v of 24.3 km, and a combat delta-v of 5 km. The Modus operandus of the rebuke is to close to just beyond the range of the enemies primary weapons, and then open fire using the fury railguns:
Example of the Rebuke firing its Fury railguns. Enemy consisted of 5 deep fryers, a fleet carrier, 4 laser frigates, 5 corsairs, and a siloship. The Rebuke won. Although not incredibly accurate at ranges of up to one million kilometers, the sheer volume of fire is usually sufficient to shred any exposed weaponry and eliminate lightly armored ships entirely. Smart commanders attack laserstars first with the fury's, knowing that the turrets are somewhat vunerable to concentrated laser fire. However, enemy gunners usually focus fire on the spinal "requiem" weapon. Should the fury turrets be destroyed by enemy action, the Rebuke has a backup: the "Requiem" railgun. Nested safely behind 98 cm of graphite aerogel and further consisting of 2.44 m of graphite aerogel surrounding a railgun module 60 m long, the Requiem is almost indestructible by laser barrage. The Vector maneuvering thrusters allows a damaged Rebuke to align itself with enemy laserstars and send a barrage of shots downrange to eliminate the threat even without the fury turrets. Battle tests with the Rebuke have been extremely positive. Among other accomplishments, it has taken out a swarm of 21 deep fryers, eliminated an entire capital fleet (pictured above), and soloed Vesta Overkill. Some additional combat photos of it in action: A Rebuke facing off against 21 Deep Fryers. The battle is about to start. Dealing damage with the Fury railguns.
The aftermath ------------------------------------------- None of the AI's are quite perfect to run the Rebuke, however "Aggressive" comes close. I would recommend testing using this setting, or alternatively controlling it manually and setting broadside after opening fire. The Rebuke Frigate is attached. the ship design is ok (only ok, becuase the spinal gun doesnt really seem to do its share), but the Fury ! Holy shit! how did you get 50km/s on a barrel that short ?? when i try that i get the bullet desintigration warnings

Yo rocketwitch, this is off topic, but do u know where all the old regulars went ? These forums used to be bustling with all these familiar users, and now there almost all gone. You, newageofpower, apophys and (maybe) me, are all thats left of the old guard I still watch this forum more or less daily, though admittedly I'm not that renown. But I've also noticed many familiar faces (so to speak) are gone. It's the nature of things. Sorry for forgetting about you Do you know where everyone went ? Are their other (hopefully Atomic Rovkets approved) realistic space sims ?

I wonder if that 0.67kg is every day or an average over time, because you don't need to eat every day. The body is adapted to putting up with fasting periods of anything from 3 to 30 days, and if you eat less your metabolism slows to match and actually bothers to recycle and repair old cells etc. and mental acuity actually increases. The trouble with people (and life in general) is access to trace vitamins and minerals rather than energy. Yo rocketwitch, this is off topic, but do u know where all the old regulars went ?
