That this game is kinda dead.
Dies anyone know of any other (at least semi realistic) space warfare games ?

Personally I'd love to have the chance to design stock ships for the game. And some ship building tutorials

Since I'm not a material engineer, not really sure what to look for when choosing an armor ? What stats do I focus on ?
I.e. I know to look at cost and density, and usually yield strength and tensile strength, but when I want an anti sandblaster armor, what do I look for ? Youngs Modulus ? Shear modulus ? Poisson Ratio ? Do i care about the specific heat ?
And if I'm making an anti laser armor, do I care more about melting point than thermal conductivity ?
Please help me.
Thank you

sigh
Shattered Horizon, too brief was your time with us Have anyone heard about another game based on the same principles of Shattered Horizon, in fact? I'm surprised no-one has touched the formula since. Whats shattered horizon ?

Has anyone here read the Enders Game prequel books ? The ones about the first and second formic wars
Also, are there really that means corrupt and terrible people in militaries ? I mean i know militaries can be very corrupt, but sometimes the officers seem cartoonishly bad

I just realized that a Naval Warships smoke stacks/funnel is basically the same thing as a spaceships heat radiators
(that is a smokestack is to a ship what our heat radiators are to our ships)
Oh and feel free to post your own showerthoughts

Late to the party, but this is the drone design I came up with. Combination of NTR and MPD gives it a good Delta-V and high manoeuvrability, and a 10 MW needle type railgun gives it some serious punch. I also learned that a nitrile rubber "radiation shield" aka bulkhead between the cannon and the main tank will improve survivability against lasers drastically, as the tanks will overheat and blow long before the cannon itself is disabled. 3cm of rubber and 30cm of air will cure this.
Downside, all those payloads and layers of armour will bring the game engine to its knees pretty fast.
Nice bulkhead trick

My favorite was when i got vesta overkill for the first time, i loved it. I spent hours battlimg it out. It was the first time it felt like a true battle, with the outcome really in doubt.
My least favorite was probably sometime in the sandbox, waiting (fruitlessly) for the enemy to DO SOMETHING ALREADY!
What was yours ?

Nice MAC gun (yes i know macs are coilguns, not railguns) Also the correct armor profile is a lot of DV and high acceleration

I Believe this is becuase when modules are "popped" (penetrated) even once, the game considers them compromise, and removes them from the equation. I.e if your needle hits a crew module, the module disappears. when in reality there would just a tiny hole leaking air in a real ship (which would kill the ship in the long term if not adressed, but wouldnt be instantly fatal).

New entry guys IMO Cutter seems like a pretty no-brainer PD escort ship. It's pretty much the only thing it does and it can actually do it quite well for a stock design. It's main drawbacks (aside from poor manoeuvrability, weak kinetic armour and usual - read: immediately lethal to the crew if destroyed - location of decoy launcher) are single propellant tank (making it easy to mobility kill and prone to being spun and flung on unpredictable trajectory out of battle) and no roll capability (making it unable to easily reorient if it loses all the turrets on one side*). Edit:
*)
Of course, chances are that if it comes to that it will already be reorienting randomly due to burst propellant tank. Do you think i was fair to it in my quick analysis ?
