I feel like it would be a good idea to make a book which story starts on the 2200 earth before we blow ourselves up, leading up to the point where the space tech is developed. it should be the most realistic sci fi ever made, rivaling even that of "Earth Awakens"Earth Unaware. Would Q-switched allow us or want us to make a collaboration book? by collab, I mean that everyone who wants to participate could write parts of the storyline down, detailing what the ship would look like and how it would be built, including orbital physics in the engagements, and having lasers that are not OP as it would ruin everything.
If you want it to be the most realistic book possible, you NEED to have OP lasers (as apophys proved in the tournement apparently). however there is countermesures, that i believe the people in the "are warships even viable with all these lasers" thread are working on.
Oh well. Next time I'll armor the sides against lasers and decrease the reload time of the cannon.
Too bad I can't play CoaDE anymore. My computer is a potato and while the game worked in December pretty well every patch makes it chug slower and slower. I cold barely even open any mission involving a gas giant (too many moons) and now it is just unplayable after the target prediction update. The same happened with Space Engineers: worked ok to start with but now it requires a direct X 11 compatible graphics card to even open, and my potato does not have a graphics card.
well that is the unfortunate sacrifice . Ive considered asking for more realistic damage models (like keeping damaged internal modules in the ship and not just having them dissapear, or "pop" in one hit (looking at you CMs)), but then realized how much more lag it would add
Just got the game, what is the tragedy with Boron?
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Boron Our Lord Savior? I thought not. It’s not a story the patch 1.1.2 would tell you. It’s a CDE legend. Boron was a fusile material, so powerful and so cheap it could be used for almost any engineering application -- armor, blades, momentum wheels, propellant tanks... It had such a high melting point and Young Modulus that he could even be the base of most layered armor schemes. The Amorphous Boron material is a pathway to many engineering properties some consider to be unnatural. It was considered so powerful... the only thing we were afraid of was it being nerfed, which eventually, of course, it was. Unfortunately, we used it in most of the designs we knew, then the patch 1.1.2 nerfed it in his non-filament form. Ironic. It could save others from death, but not itself.
