Yep. The AI needs to be more discriminating about its use of missiles vs. drones. (Proper course of action if someone intercepts nuclear missiles with a small number of drones should be to send a small number of missiles at a time, which will likely kill the drones while allowing the rest of the missiles to proceed to their targes.) And it should use "scatter" when drones are intercepted by missiles...
Missiles vs. drones gets even more fun with larger warheads; a single 10kt nuke detonated near the center of a stinger formation will usually kill them all.

Admittedly, I'd still consider the drones scattering to be a win: if I can bleed them of delta-V by expending a couple of missiles, you better believe I'll take that result and be completely happy with it.

Just had a really frustrating "loss" here - killed everything with no damage in return, but one of the "kills" was an engineless enemy craft, sent spinning off on an escape trajectory, so I couldn't catch it Did you wait for a while after the battle? The game auto-kills anything that leaves the mission area on an escape trajectory with no delta V.

I think I probably just restarted - I've completed this a couple of times since without the same problem
